Outlier talks a lot about freedom, comfort and motion, but nothing illustrates these quite like the Liberated Wool Peacoat. The problem with regular vintage navy peacoats is that their fabric is so constrictive you can barely reach a subway straphanger in one, let alone get comfortable riding your bike. The Liberated Wool Peacoat keeps the classic peacoat aesthetics but uses an innovative cut and a 2.5 layer wool softshell fabric to create a cool weather jacket fit for motion, versatility and comfort.
It has incredible freedom of movement, is bafflingly lightweight, extremely weather resistant, highly breathable and warm. All without sacrificing the sharp looks you’ve come to expect from a peacoat.
The Liberated Wool fabric has a beautiful yarn-dyed wool outer face and soft fleece interior. Holding them together is a water and wind resistant polyurethane bond. The result is a warm fabric with the sharp looks of quality wool, the soft flexibility of fleece and the breathable weather resistance that only the Swiss can architect.
The Liberated Wool Peacoat is made in NYC using Swiss fabric and custom Corozo buttons. Features include a high buttoned collar, merino/nylon inner cuffs for warmth, perfectly pitched three piece sleeve and modulated back pleat for superior arm movement. Dolomite Blazed Cotton seam binding rounds out this superior piece of outerwear.
The Liberated Wool Peacoat ($650) is available now on the Outlier Webshop in Ash Gray and Charcoal Gray.

Discovering the Underscore magazine is like having found a soul mate. A cloud of pure joy rains over me as I flip through it page by page, feelingOn November 22, 2011 / By Gracie
Underscore is an independent magazine with thematic content attuned to a simple rhythm; quality of life. It features a wide range of content about arts, culture, fashion, design and worldwide creative industries. With a pool of international contributors, Underscore seeks to underline the simple and important values that are neglected in our everyday life. Recently, it has been awarded the Presidentʼs Design Award in the category of Design of the Year 2011 after the launch of its latest edition – UNDERSCORE N°3: THE FIGHT ISSUE.
The Presidentʼs Design Award represents the pinnacle of recognition in Singaporeʼs design sector. Jurors of the awards cited Underscore as being unlike your run-of-the-mill magazine, but a labour of love. Recognized for being a well-balanced magazine with good design, thought-provoking articles and outstanding content, they chose the recipient, describing it as “a magazine you want to read. It is emotional, it has depth, it has a heart. You want to feel it, open it and devour it – voraciously.”
Launched as a magazine of its own kind in October 2009, this biannual publication was conceptualized and produced by award winning studio Hjgher to encourage values of honesty, quality, authenticity and integrity. “We love print and we couldn’t find a magazine that resonated with our beliefs. So, we did it ourselves”, says Mr Justin Long, Hjgherʼs creative director.
The Underscore magazine goes beyond print to spread its belief as well. In its latest edition, the magazine took the opportunity to launch THE U STORE. Established in support of independent craft folk who dedicate themselves to creating timeless pieces of exquisite quality, Underscore seeks to collaborate creatively with purveyors of the aforementioned to create simple and honest items of handmade distinction.
It is with shared beliefs in traditional processes, integrity of materials used and sensitivity in design details that products of THE U STORE are made. All items are available at select stores worldwide and online at www.underscoremagazine.com.
Underscore welcomes new items:
The Ching Chong Group, A creative-technology studio developing mobile applications and games announced on 16th November 2011 the launch of feecha, a mobile tool that allows people to locate interestingOn November 21, 2011 / By Simcik
The Ching Chong Group, A creative-technology studio developing mobile applications and games announced on 16th November 2011 the launch of feecha, a mobile tool that allows people to locate interesting happenings in close proximity.
Conceived and constructed entirely in Singapore, feecha brings the local and social networking scene to the next level by allowing users to share noteworthy information and broadcast it to people nearby.
What sets feecha apart from other existing popular apps is that location is the heart of the equation. Users will be able to post interesting activities or events in their location so that others nearby can see what they see, or even check it out in person.
To create a feecha on the map, users take a video or photo of the activity, upload it to the app and share it with a short comment. Once shared, a feecha will appear on the map; the more popular the story is on the app, the bigger and more alive the feecha becomes.
Feechas feed on attention to grow and breed – it is ‘survival of the most interesting’. They grow and change colour depending on the number of views, comments and shares they receive. However, feechas that stop attracting attention will slowly shrink and fade away, clearing space for the better and stronger.
The potential uses for the app are varied and wide – from unsigned bands promoting their gigs; to a teenager organizing a casual game of footie with his neighbours; to a mother capturing a funny, spontaneous moment of her new born son; to the foodie sharing her favourite restaurant’s new dish; to alerting others nearby that something is on sale; to simply highlighting something cool that is happening nearby.
Feecha is now available free for all iPhone users with iOS running at 4.2 and above. Users can download it on the Apple App Store, iTunes or via www.feecha.com .
The Ching Chong Group plans to roll out an additional version for the Android platform soon.
Have I also mention that feecha users stands a chance to win $8,888? OH!

Polish designer Pjotr (pronounced ‘pyo-ter’, originating from Polish name Piotr/Peter) has created a basic line of androgynous and unisex styles with a modern concept. Or technically speaking, Pjotr is one product that can be worn in five different ways – a t-shirt, tunic, dress, cardigan and a coat.
The ingenuity of the product was inspired from the idea to meet the everyday need. And this is one well-made, multi-wear clothing item that actually works in a frill-less and non-gimmicky manner, making it an easy and wearable piece.
In his fall 2011 campaign, Pjotr showcases his unisex garments through home-grown Polish faces — Kamil Milczarek and Julia Jedrzejewska.
This is ActuallyActually’s first venture into Polish labels and as always, it is excited to present young potential designers to its customers and friends. Pjotr basics will be available exclusively in 7 essential colours at ActuallyActually from end-November. All basics are retailing at S$155. ActuallyActually is located at 16 Purvis Street, second floor.

Footballers around the world can now record and socialise their scored goals through a Nike Facebook app – the T90 Strike Counter. This initiative is launched in conjunctionOn November 3, 2011 / By Gracie
Footballers around the world can now record and socialise their scored goals through a Nike Facebook app – the T90 Strike Counter. This initiative is launched in conjunction with the new Nike T90 Laser IV boot that is designed to deliver the ultimate power and precision for goal scorers.
The T90 Strike Counter allows players to input data about their goals such as a spot on the pitch where they scored from, the part of the net where the ball hit and the part of the boot that struck the ball. A 3D image can immediately be shared with friends or team mates. How cool is that?
As the goals roll in, Nike Football will host the conversation bringing pros and young players together in a celebration of the art of the perfect strike, no matter how it ends up in the back of the net. How many goals are volleys? How many are scored from inside the box? Scored with the right foot? Left? Outside of the boot? Top corner?
The app will also feature pro player commentary about memorable goals and what makes the perfect strike. CBF national team player Pato said, “A perfect strike depends on the moment within the game. How close to the goal I am, or which side of the field I receive the ball. The most important thing is hitting the back of the net. It’s great to score a spectacular goal, but a tap in is good, too, they all count.”
To support the launch of the T90 Strike Counter Facebook app, Nike has created a short film capturing the dynamic strikes of leading sharp shooters including Fernando Torres, Higuain, Pato and Wesley Sniejder. The film features strikes at goal that are rapidly captured and calculated using the strike counter 3D imaging. Slow motion graphics of intricate footwork and goal celebrations are set against a constantly escalating strike counter as shots fire in from all angles. To view the film and participate in the T90 Strike Counter app, visit www.facebook.com/nikefootball.

In this iPhone dominated world, non-smart phones are becoming rare finds than its smart counterpart. John’s Doe from Amsterdam brought us John’s Phone – the world’s simplest cell phone. As John said: you call, you hang up, and that’s it.
There are no frills and no unnecessary features such as a camera, text messaging and an endless number of ringtones. It’s the no-contract cell phone with large keys and more than 3 weeks standby time.
The back of the phone features a small opening with an address book and pen (yes, not stylus, not touchscreen, it is a ‘book’ and a ‘pen’). John prided that two unique features allow you to use even when your phone is switched off. (yeah.. one can’t emphasize the simplicity any more than that)
Before you start going “Oh, my gosh! That belongs to dinosaurs’ age”, do check out the design of John’s Phone. It does looks real cute. It’s a different class from that those that you can find in our 7-Eleven stores. For the guys, perhaps you could perhaps consider this device on your next nation serving mission.
John’s Phone is 10.5 centimetres in height, 6 centimetres in length and 1.5 centimetres in width (4.1”/2.4”/0.6”). Weight: 95 grams.
Priced at USD 100, get it online atwww.johnsphones.com.
Paypal, Visa & Mastercard are accepted.
If you really can’t find any reason for this phone, consider it for your grandma & grandpop.

We live in a world where ‘organic’ is no longer just a hype, but a part of life – organic fruits, organic meat, organic cotton for apparel, organic skin care (and even organic lubricants… phew).
Jing used to be skeptical about organic skin care. Imagine putting cucumber, egg white, etc on your face hoping it will do miracle sounds like an old-wives’ tale. However, coming across Suki (Advanced Organic Science)and trying out the products myself changed my perspective completely. Jing is now a convert!
Checkout Pure Tincture, a distributor of organic skin care products in Singapore, that carries Suki, Madara, Santa Verde and more organic brands. You can shop at their online store and have the products delivered to your home. However, if you are new to these, Jing recommends you to drop by their store at Raffles Place or Tangs Vivo City. Helen Lien, owner of this fabulous store, will patiently explain and recommend the suitable products for you.
Jing’s staples includes Suki Concentrated Balancing Toner, Suki Balancing Day Lotion and Suki Transformative Cleansing Clay. Suki Complete Care Set or the Suki Jump Start Kit contains the samples / travel-sized kits of the various products, perfect for the new users to try out. You might like to try out other sample kits put together by Pure Tincture containing the best products from the various organic brands. Price starts, very affordably, from SGD 8 and are available for various skin conditions.
Pure Tincture also offers facial and body treatments, as well as organic waxing, at their Raffles Place store.
