Beauty and the sensual world are at the heart of H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection for 2017. Every piece is made from sustainable materials, including BIONIC® – a polyester made entirely of plastics recycled from shoreline waste. It is a premium collection made for special occasions, available at H&M Orchard Building from 20th April.
“For this year’s Conscious Exclusive collection at H&M, we thought not only about the look of the pieces, but also how they feel and sound. It’s a collection to please all our senses, and also our desire to be sustainable in everything we do,” says Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M’s Head of Design and Creative Director.
Each piece in the women’s Conscious Exclusive collection combines the freshness of spring with the soul of sustainability. One key piece is an ethereal gown of flowing pleats, entirely made from BIONIC® – a polyester made of recycled shoreline waste. Peonies and mimosa have been screen-printed then distorted to create dream-like prints, while the hand-drawn image of a dreaming woman is quilted into the softest jacket.
Conscious Exclusive captures the mood for the night, especially with the shimmer and touch of sequins that appeal to the senses on a short recycled polyester cocktail dress. Meanwhile the tuxedo is reimagined as a lounge jacket in organic silk and TENCEL® twill, with trousers that playfully flounce at the leg.
“H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection shows how the best style can be mindful of the planet, to help protect it for the future. It’s such a desirable collection, with pieces made in sustainable materials that you want to wear for seasons to come,” says Natalia Vodianova, the face of the campaign and founder of Elbi – a philanthropy digital platform connecting users with a global network of charities.
Accessories include a fishnet bag made entirely from recycled shoreline waste, as well as quirky and elegant earrings made from recycled glass and plastic. For the first time the collection also includes a selection of styles for kids, such as beautiful little tulle dresses, and the softest structured blazers and trousers with a charming street style feel.
Also for the first time, the Conscious Exclusive collection includes fragrances, with a set of unisex ecological oils that can be worn separately, or mixed together to create an individual unique scent.
Conscious Exclusive is a key part of H&M’s move towards a more sustainable future. Across H&M’s entire offering, 26% are now made from sustainable materials, with a goal each year to increase the share. H&M has set specific targets in every product range, for example by 2020 H&M aims for 100% of its cotton to be sustainable. It is all proof of H&M’s commitment to making sustainable, good-quality fashion accessible to as many people as possible.

Positioning itself as a youth culture staple, Converse takes the task of connecting The Chuck Taylor with a new generation and there is definitely no better way to celebrate Converse’s 100 years than with rising stars such as Millie Bobby Brown, Vince Staples, Winnie Harlow, and more fronting the “Forever Chuck” campaign.

This original collection is designed based on the styles and patterns of the clothes worn in the film by the heroine, Belle. Released in 1991, Disney’s animated film Beauty and the Beast remains a favourite around the world. This year, that excitement is being renewed with a live-action version. Converse has again partnered with fragment design, Head Designer Hiroshi Fujiwara – this time, joining forces for a premium collection on the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 silhouette. Aptly named the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 x fragment design “Tuxedo Pack,” the defining feature across the four styles is an upper made of premium suiting twill to mirror that of a tuxedo.
As Hiroshi mentioned about the design inspiration, the collaboration this time offers “the sneakers that go with your tuxedo and dress”. Additional nods to the men’s formal wear staple include a satin heel and a singular black stripe on the lace aglet, representing the sneaker equivalents of both a tuxedo lapel and bow tie. For a “hers” option, the white colorway features subtle lace detailing on the heel stay, mimicking the material of a wedding gown. Other product attributes that round out the collection include a co-branded sock liner and license plate, as well as a canvas interior paying a nod to Converse’s heritage.
Self-described as a “cultural DJ,” Hiroshi Fujiwara is synonymous with sophisticated style and cool. Women’s Authentic Collection
Vintage Fred Perry pieces continue to provide inspiration for both silhouette and graphic patterns across Women’s Authentic for spring 2017. Gingham and tartan, part of the modernist’s uniform since the 1960s, give a timeless spin to our contemporary styles.
Further exploration of the gingham print results in oversized chequered squares on the collar and main body of shirts, adding both interest and texture. A collection formed of modern wardrobe building pieces is streamlined using tonal colours such as black and grey for gingham prints and navy and black in our fine knitwear.
As ever, the twin-tipped shirt sits at the centre of the Authentic collection. It was the first piece to carry the legendary 5-4-4 twin-tipping, and it remains at the core of everything we do. Other pique shirts in the collection take inspiration from the G3600, as well as our sporting heritage. The button-placket is replaced with an exposed zip, a nod to vintage cycling shirts and an obvious synergy with our Men’s Authentic collection.
Shirt dresses remain a key part of our Women’s Authentic collection, with styles playing on our sports lineage, such as the ringer T-shirt dresses.
Our pique shirt dresses evolve for spring to include a zipped placket, a gentle nod to our sporting heritage and a new way to style the dress. Smarter options, with button down collar and concealed button plackets reference the Oxford shirts.
With reference to the original military parka jackets that were adopted by the mods in the ‘60s, our Parka detail shirts and shirt dresses have been influenced by the detailing typically found on this iconic outerwear product.
The A-line tennis skirt is a modern take on an original Fred Perry sportswear shape. Made from tricot fabric, it comes with a matching track jacket. Tonal zips and Laurel embroidery replace the typical white features and elevate the piece for a more refined take on a sportswear icon.
