Onitsuka Tiger presents the GSM that has been reimagined into a classic vintage style that shines with the glossiness of lacquer for Autumn-Winter 2017. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Pazzion invites everyone to stand #StrongerTogether to celebrate the women who have displayed strength, courage and resilience during their battle against breast cancer. The campaign aims to spread awareness that early detection saves lives and saves breasts.
This year, Pazzion will be releasing a limited edition pink pump heels together with a series of personal stories by four breast cancer survivors who have courageously opened up about their journey, in hopes that it would be a source of comfort, support and inspiration for women.
The limited edition pump heels in pink suede sports a classic ribbon design, resembling the loop of pink ribbon, bringing awareness to breast cancer. The heels will be available at all Pazzion stores, as well as the e-store from now to 31 October. It will retail for SGD76 and 30% of the net proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) to fund their members’ activities.

Branda was only 28 years old when breast cancer interrupted her life. She was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy and endured bouts of negative emotions when the side effects – not to mention, hair loss.
From the initial resistance and shock, Branda’s thoughts kept revolving around the cause of her illness, “I kept thinking, why me? I was young, led a relatively healthy lifestyle. I never thought I would have cancer, definitely not at this age.”
But giving up was not an option for her. With the support of her family, friends and her husband, Branda steeled herself for the journey. On days when her self-esteem dipped, Branda’s husband always reassured her that he would never give up on her.
Branda shared, “I didn’t even want to look at myself in the mirror. But even when I had no makeup on, no eyelashes, brows and no hair, my husband would say, ‘You look so beautiful today.’”
Today, Branda is a n active member of BCF and strong advocate for Breast Cancer Awareness, reminding others not to take life and health for granted. When asked about the advice she has for other women, Branda added, “Be vigilant about your body changes, do regular self-checks, and do not take health for granted.”

Aberdeen Harbour is the oldest existing business in the UK with a history that spans almost 900 years, and further north in Peterhead, there is the largest white fish and pelagic (mackerel and herring) port in the UK. Throughout the years, towns and communities in the North East of Scotland were established and built around fishing with some settlements dating back to the Medieval Times.
The “Fisherman’s Blues” edition of the U520 captures the spirit of a bygone era where superstitions and myth carried weight as seafaring men leaned heavily upon omens and luck to secure a safe return from the hardships of fishing in the North Sea. Sometimes at sea for many weeks of the year, fishermen had to endure the inhospitable conditions of the North Sea and its intemperate weather, as many seafarers would never return.
HANON reimagine the classic 520 running shoe, drawing inspiration from the nautical theme with a marine based colour palette as the upper is executed in an array of sea blues and executed in a plush leather application, with perforation details throughout. Additional detail appears across the shoe by way of a dual branded leather footbed, as well as a HANON branded leather hang tag.
For this project, HANON also worked alongside esteemed British photographer Ewen Spencer, who captured a series of images on film of a fishing crew and their vessel, while on location in Peterhead, Scotland. Each pair of shoes bought from HANON will come with a set of four Ewen Spencer postcards featuring images from the shoot.

UNIQLO unveils its new collaboration line with JW ANDERSON, an internationally renowned fashion brand from London. The Fall/Winter 2017 range comprises 33 pieces for men and women, and it will be available exclusively at UNIQLO’s Global Flagship Store at Orchard Central and online at www.uniqlo.com/sg from 22 September. Prices range from SGD19.90 for a Graphic T-Shirt to SGD249.90 for a Trench Coat.
The new line features British classics that combine the signature bold and graphic design aesthetic of JW ANDERSON with UNIQLO’s excellence in fabrics, fit and functionality. The result is a collection that offers the best of British styling that is at once traditional and modern while providing daily lifestyle options for men and women of all ages.
Commenting on the launch of the much anticipated line, Jonathan Anderson, the founder of JW ANDERSON, said, “For me, the point of doing this collaboration was that I believe in democracy in fashion, and what I hope will be achieved is that any age demographic can pick up and find something within the collection to relate to. Doing something with UNIQLO is very interesting. It means you come up with a wardrobe which is universal and quirky.”
The collection will roll out on September 19 in the UK, followed by other markets around the world. Availability of the 33-piece range will vary by country and store.
He added, “I think what UNIQLO and JW ANDERSON have in common is the idea of ‘making a new product’. That’s always fascinating. The idea of reducing something to its essence is a very Japanese cultural thing. It can be culturally, textile, or silhouette driven, but it’s about the idea of reducing something down so that you can create the most impact.”
Yuki Katsuta, Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing and Head of Research and Design at UNIQLO, said, “This line embodies our shared vision of offering elegance, simplicity, timeless comfort, and individuality through LifeWear. The inspiration for much of the clothing we wear today was the uniforms, work wear, and sportswear that originated in the British Isles. We have combined the energy, creativity, and traditional touches of JW ANDERSON with our fit, fabrics, and functionality, as part of our quest to craft wardrobe essentials that are enduringly appealing.”
A selection of down jackets, shirts, and padded tote bags also employs tartan. The new collaboration line includes multi-border cut and sewn pieces, knits, and stoles in vivid hues, as well as ruffle blouses and skirts. Items such as the Wool Blended Quilted Jacket and the Padded Tote Bag, feature a faux leather patch with the anchor logo, for an unmistakably JW ANDERSON touch.
The entire 33-piece collection incorporates traditional British materials combined with UNIQLO trademark fabrics. There are Tweed coats in signature herringbone and shirts in extra fine cotton that feels smooth and natural, as well as knits in Extra Fine Merino for an elegant, glossy sheen.
The silhouette is also a key feature for the line. The look ranges from long coats with contemporary button and waist belt styling to jackets that give a modern, slim and sophisticated look but also allow for layering, and includes a turtle neck sweater with boxy silhouette and an oversized knit dress.
Keeping people as warm as possible is another central consideration. Examples include HEATTECH scarves and down jackets that employ ribbed cuffs and feature zipper tape so people can keep gloves on as much as possible in winter.

The launch of Melissa MDREAMS largest flagship store in Singapore is part of the brand’s longer- term strategy towards establishing greater store-customer relationship, as well as the opportunity to further reinforce and enhance its brand presence in the market.

The new Melissa MDREAMS flagship store in Singapore is conceptualised with emphasis on enhancing customers experience in-store. The design concept, created by Singapore-based interior architecture firm, LAANK, takes inspiration from dance and movement, keeping to the key design principle of a white canvas that allows Melissa’s unique and colourful footwear collections to take centre stage in the overall aesthetics of the store. Most importantly, the overall design and layout take into consideration the entire customer journey within the new store, featuring points of interests such as promotional or event spaces that encourage discovery of the brand, and enhancing customer engagement.
The new flagship store is anchored on the main design feature of an oversized, brightly lit centrepiece that leads customers on a journey through the store, showcasing a little waltz of shoes on display that look semi-floating, creating a fluidity and seamlessness to the overall execution. The curved display shelves further emphasise the constant movement and energy of Melissa’s range of exciting footwear. At one glance, even from a distance, the centrepiece display promises to spur interest with its showcase of the latest and most exciting Melissa collections.
The Heart of the Matter
Executed through careful conceptualisation and planning, the new flagship store’s design is based on the principles of creating a holistic, architectural interior that marry form and function, on top of aesthetics. The design is physically beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but with strong emphasis on shoppers’ in-store experience – overall flow and space, points of interests to keep customers engaged, interaction between customers and products.
“When we embarked on the project to reimagine how the new Melissa MDREAMS flagship store would be, the team decided that our customers must be at the heart of everything we do in this project,” adds Mr Yow. “It is about putting the customer before the design, creating a shopper experience centric shop design.”
LAANK, the brainchild behind the design concept of the new flagship store, is no stranger in both the local and regional interior architecture scene, having successfully executed several high profile projects, including the likes of National Kitchen by Violet Oon at National Gallery Singapore, Curate at Resorts World Sentosa, and a hospitality project in Thailand, The Boathouse Phuket with Hotels Properties Limited (HPL). The team has put together a stunningly organic undisruptive flow to the space at the newly launched flagship store, where customers can be constantly entertained and delighted.
“Customers are constantly looking for the next retail experience and it is no longer just visiting a store. When we took on the conceptualisation of the Melissa MDREAMS new flagship store, we designed it with consideration to allow flexibility for content to happen, like artist workshops or talks. In terms of aesthetics, the main centrepiece serves as an attraction and a social media statement,” explains Ms Cherin Tan, Creative Director and Founder, LAANK.
