Remember Jetsons, the futuristic cartoon that featured holograms and flying cars? Give it a sartorial twist and you’ll get Lazy Oaf‘s summer collection. The London-based fashion label is going extraterrestrial with their Space Oddity collection, complete with references to sci-fi films, aliens, and moon landings.
The women’s collection takes inspiration from a late 60s/early 70s idea of the future. Some highlights from this range are the planet-like pom-poms sprinkled across dresses and cropped sweaters, the crazy yet adorable rainbow striped Fur Face Jacket, and the structured silver Space Waffle Skirt.
Of course, a Lazy Oaf collection would not be complete without prints and this collection features Alien Drive Thru-inspired motifs and Astro Dog illustrations.
Whilst the women’s line takes on a vibrant space age theme, the men’s collection takes a darker path, reflecting mankind’s relationship with space. Anti-authoritarian slogans like “The Future is Written” and “You Are Obliged” on their short-sleeved shirt joins a similarly styled tee whose caption reads: “Not My Planet Not My Problem”.
The future is all about the new, and a new rope stitch manufacturing technique can be found on the long-sleeved top that reads, “Emptiness”. Accessories for the men include a mesh snapback cap featuring a harmonious logo for Earth, which also comes in the form of an arm patch on their Spacesuit Sweatshirt.
The Lazy Oaf Space Oddity collection crash has landed on their site, and is now available at the Actually store (3[email protected] #04-06).

A little bit of kindness goes a long way, but sometimes we forget that. As a little reminder, alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet recently put together a fashion soiree to celebrate the initiation of the Kindness Movement as well as the launch of its first ever store in Singapore.
A kindness tree was erected at the storefront, and hanging from its branches were beautiful messages of positivity, encouragement, and love. These messages were written by guests who graced the event, including actress/comedian Patricia Mok, local presenter on Lush 99.5fm Tracy Phillips, and model Hanli Hoefer.
Made possible by the collaboration between the New York-based label and Industrial & Services Co-Operative Society Ltd (ISCOS), these messages will be read by children beneficiaries of the Fairy Godparent Programme (FGP). alice + olivia will also take on the #kindnessproject as an ongoing company commitment. “The concept of being able to share positivity, creativity and kindness around the world is something that I have always believed in; a kind gesture can go a long way,” said Stacey Bendet.
To match the kindness movement and whimsical style of alice + olivia, the event had a selection of cake pops, cupcakes, and swiss rolls made by local French-Australian styled cake service Pretty Delicious. Local designer and DJ Linda Hao Li Yuan was behind the decks, adding to the event her own spin of upbeat live electronic music.
The alice + olivia store is now open at ION Orchard #03-17, with ready-to-wear outfits alongside evening gowns and couture wear, footwear and handbag collections.

Nike is proud to announce the 2014 #BETRUE Collection of uniquely designed footwear and apparel that is inspired by the LGBT community, and celebrates the passion and pursuitOn June 22, 2014 / By Nookmag
Nike is proud to announce the 2014 #BETRUE Collection of uniquely designed footwear and apparel that is inspired by the LGBT community, and celebrates the passion and pursuit of sport by all athletes. The launch of the collection coincidentally runs in conjunction with the upcoming Pink Dot 2014 that will be happening on 28 June.
The collection includes the Nike Free 5.0 and Nike Free OG, as well as the Nike SB Zoom Janoski. The signature #BETRUE T-shirt anchors the apparel pieces. The #BETRUE design also comes in a tank and City Pack T-Shirts. It features rainbow colours- both to represent the diversity within sports and Nike’s support for the LGBT community. Following their original #BETRUE print that was launched in 2013, it has been revamped to feature bold geometric shapes and a unique pattern with the words “Be True” embedded in the print.
The Nike Free Run 5.0 features a reflective #BETRUE tribal print. Nike Flywire on the 5.0 also reflects the colour line in the gradient of the rainbow, and the sock liner and shoelaces also highlight #BETRUE. Nike Janoski’s are one of the popular shoes at the moment, aside from their famous Roshe Run line of shoes. Did you know that “Janoski” is actually the name of a professional skateboarder? Stefan Janoski is one of several Nike elite athletes showing support for #BETRUE in June. He has lent his #BETRUE signature to his signature show, the NIKE SB Zoom Janoski.
His hand drawn Be true signatures on white canvas paper were turned into a rainbow print pattern for the upper, with no two pairs of the Nike SB Zoom Janoski #BETRUE exactly alike- making it truly unique- just what #BETRUE is all about in showing their support for the LGBT community. This collection will be launched in the US first, so hang on!

The SevenFriday family debuted their highly anticipated M-Series at this year’s BaselWorld. The first pieces, M1 and M2, will be available worldwide from June onwards. The M-series looks almost similar to their popular P-Series, but is expected to be more sought after than its predecessor.
The M-series retains the brand’s roots in continuing to draw inspiration from industrial machines. SevenFriday’s signature squircle (a term coined from the words ‘square’ and ‘circle’ befitting its shape) watch case is retained, along with the sleek yet sturdy look that many have come to appreciate and associate with SevenFriday.
Unlike the P-series, both the M1 and M2 come with a left crown for both comfort and aesthetic purposes. The M1’s cool watch case is stainless steel with polished and sandblasted finishing. Retailing for $1,988, the M1’s watch interface is made of 6 layers and 10 applied parts in silver. These all add up to give the M1 its sleek and cool futuristic look.
Retailing at $2,200, the M2, on the other hand, is a dark beauty next to its counterpart. The monotone on the animation ring is given an interesting spin with a polished stainless steel identification plate at the 3 o’clock position of the watch dial. The interface of the M2 is likewise made of 6 layers and 10 applied parts, but in black and rhodium.
Don’t look for the hour, minute or second hands in the M-series as you won’t find these. You must be thinking, “Then how can I tell the time?!” Well, these unique time pieces both come with 3 customised discs allowing time to be read off the discs. How cool is that!
You can get your hands on these unique timepieces at The Watch Bureau Pte Ltd (28 Maxwell Road #04-04).

We’ve seen quite a few awesome collaborations by Vans, but this one with Stussy dates back to the ’80s – and we love it. An assortment of prints not seen since the 80s and 90s are taking over the collection, bringing us back to the early days in Souther California. As a tribute to their roots in skate and street fashion, these prints envelope Vans Original Classics silhouettes.
The OG Style 36 LX takes on the Stüssy Tom Tom print, a motif drawn by Shawn Stüssy himself in 1986. The Tom Tom pattern reappears on the medial and lateral sides of the skate lace-up and soft suede and neon green overlays further emphasize the Style 36’s new wave-inspired aesthetic.
The Stüssy Bones print first debuted in 1988 and resurfaces this season as a collage pattern on the OG Era LX. The allover motif is inspired by the ’80s skate scene, and the pair in this collection sticks to the classic black and white. It form over the toe ramp and midfoot of the retro low top, with a contrasting colour-up at the ankle counter.
The trademark Stüssy 8 Ball print. first introduced over 20 years ago, returns on the quarter panels on the OG Sk8-Hi LX. It’s been Stüssy’s most celebrated patterns and pairing it with Vans‘ iconic high-top is a great move. The unique black/white colorway is outfitted with the coveted pattern, and finished with red leather Sidestripe detailing.
The Vault by Vans x Stüssy collection will be released this Spring at all Stüssy Chapter doors and select Vault stockists. It’s definitely a collection you’d want to keep!

In light of the upcoming World Cup, Nike has provided players with only the best garments for their matches. Essentially, soccer players taking part in the World Cup will be on the field for 90 mins and after each match, they need to let their bodies recuperate. With that in mind, Nike has come up with team kits that have been designed with optimal cooling solutions and a garment that can help facilitate recuperation.
Football played in Brasil this June and July could see temperatures around 25 degrees celcius, with at least 10 matches pushing 30 degrees celcius. Clearly running around in a large field, with a goal in mind (did you see what I did there?) in such hot weather conditions can cause dehydration and worst still, heat stroke, if a player is not used to the heat. It includes technology which helps sweat evaporate faster.
The kits also have a burn-out mesh at the back which reduces weight by removing fabric in key heat zones for added breathability. Basically, this kit is supposed to help ensure that the player remains cool.
Believe it or not, soccer players are humans too, and when humans stretch themselves to their furthest physical potential, it can cause a strain – especially when you have matches one every two days. The days between matches are crucial as it is when players get a chance to recuperate. The Nike Pro Combat Recovery Hypertight is a garment that has graduated compression that helps to aid recovery, particularly at the lower limb area. It is to be worn away from competition, during active recovery, while the body is moving but not competing or engaged in intense exercise.
It has been proven by athletes themselves that the Nike Pro Combat Recovery Hypertight actually works. Many athletes like LeBron James, have mentioned that it has helped him recover from game to game, and it allows him to feel good before and during a game.

Say what you will about the mafia, but they sure are rich in culture and symbolism. Tattoos for one, is a whole new of language. From representative Russian tattoos to the colourful and artistic Japanese inks, it’s no wonder local label Coupe-cousu have chosen the illustrative art (and other mafia-esque trademarks) to be a source of inspiration for their Fall/Winter Collection.
Coupe-couse, “cut and sewn” in French, is a brand known for its sleek and tailored look. From embroidery to prints to fabric, this collection is steeped in the luxury and mystery of the mafia world – albeit dangerous and life threatening, and their latest range of apparels can only be described as criminally cool.
Coupe-couse’s suits and shirt-jacket uses a luxurious jacquard fabric reminiscent of the bourgeois class. Taking note from the usually refine Italian mafia tattoos are the crisp engineered shirts and tailored shorts.
Throwing in a hint of casual chic are the baseball-style shirts, oversized tees, and loose harem trousers. Colours also play a big part in wrapping up this collection. While a palette of grey, slate, white, and black is the default for all things cool, the designers have included a smatter of teal, blood red, orange and electric lime to brighten things up.
Get your hands on the collection at TANGS ORCHARD, 310 Orchard Road, Level 3 Menswear Department.

UNIQLO is back with a new collection and new promotions this May! Nookmag has got a sneak peek at them and these are our picks, including some #OOTDOn May 29, 2014 / By Nookmag
UNIQLO is back with a new collection and new promotions this May! Nookmag has got a sneak peek at them and these are our picks, including some #OOTD ideas if you intend to get some of these pieces. Two of them are from the Ines De La Fressange collaboration, and of course, the French model and fashion designer would be the perfect style icon for these pieces. They were named after and inspired by her, after all!
But we can’t all be Ines, so here are some suggestions on our picked Uniqlo pieces! This Kimono-esque top, for example, can be worn for a work day, dinner, or a laidback Sunday with your friends. For a work outfit, pair the Ines De La Fressange Cache-coeur T-shirt ($29.90) with a pair of fitting white pants and a camisole underneath.
This tee also goes with pencil skirts and stilettos. You can also wear it kimono like fashion blogger Aimee Song! Aimee shows you how to style a simple wrap with cutoff and studded denim.
You can never go wrong with a simple button down cardigan, or in this case, the Ines De La Fressange Light Crew Neck Cardi ($49.90). With no collars, you can choose to leave one or two buttons unbuttoned to give it a more casual, laid-back look. A basic piece like this goes with everything from jeans to shirts to skirts.
Cardigans are also a favourite staple of Alexa Chung. The fashion icon has been seen incorporating a simple cardigan into her outfits. A staple piece like the Light Crew Neck Cardigan matches right with a pair of good jeans or layered outfits.
Stepping away from the Ines de La Fressange pieces, this is one that is perfect for Singapore’s hot and humid weather! There are so many ways to style this Jonathan Adler Sleeveless Blouse ($29.90). You can easily leave the top unbuttoned and tie the ends of each side together to bring on the 60s vibe.
If you’re daring enough, you can even skip the tank top and just show a bit of your belly and make it a crop top.
This Silk Sleeveless Blouse ($49.90) is more flowy than the Jonathan Adler Sleeveless Blouse. And that means this silk top is a breezier option!
It can be styled the same way, but you can also pair it with white denim high waisted shorts (to go with a printed piece) and wear a pair of neutral coloured sneakers or sandals like below:
Printed t-shirts are the easiest piece of clothing to style because it is a statement piece in itself. The Jonathan Adler T-shirt ($24.90) will add a pop of colour and print to your wardrobe.
You can choose to style printed t-shirts with a colour within the print itself, in this case white. Some prints go well with other prints. The trick is to find one that is more subtle than the other, so that the mixture is not too overwhelming. We love how the outfit below is a good mix of prints!
UNIQLO is also having two in-store promotions with the purchase of the Chupa Chups girls UTs and the Bearbrick UTs! With every purchase of 2 Bearbrick UTs, customers will be entitled to a free limited edition Bearbrick keychain. Here’s another promotion, limited to selected stores: with every purchase of a Girl’s Chupa Chups Graphic T-shirt, the child will get a chance to grab and keep as many Chupa Chups lollipops as they with one hand. This promotion will be held at the following stores only: Bugis+, Plaza Singapura, VivoCity, [email protected], Bedok Mall, Causeway Point, City Square Mall, Jem®, Liang Court, Parkway Parade, Suntec City and Chinatown Point.

From jerseys and flags to face paint, Everlast gets into the spirit of things by highlighting the iconic colourways of host country Brazil and fellow competitors Germany, Spain, Italy, and England – all of whom are world champions qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1930. Brazil takes on the cheery navy, Germany the fierce black, England the cool off-white, Spain the bold red, and Italy the crisp white. The collection features 5-Panel Caps with silkscreened Everlast logos, rich in these bold hues.
Also sporting striking colour combinations and silkscreened World Cup details are the double-compartment backpacks, duffel bags, and small messenger bags. These versatile styles make the ideal carry-all to the gym, school, and/or a trip overseas.
Complete that sporty look with a similar-themed footwear range which integrates sports with fashion lifestyle, seen in the canvas upper and rubber outsole. These kicks feature a lightweight sponge Rubberlon EVA, an antibacterial and anti-odour sockliner.
The Everlast World Soccer Collection is currently available at all Everlast boutiques and major departmental stores. Prices range from $24.90 to $55.90.

Nixon is kicking it old school by bringing back the retro vibe in the colours and designs they’ve chosen for their latest collection. Despite that, their styles and fit remain modern and will seamlessly fit your existing wardrobe.
They have two series of watches – The Ruckus and The Mod. The Ruckus (left) is for those who love making a statement with their watches. Priced at $139, The Ruckus series comes in five colour combinations. The Mod on the other hand, has a more simple and minimalistic look. It is priced at $129 and comes in five colours too – including a bright blue!
Their caps, priced at $49 each, will add a touch of Nixon flair to your wardrobe. Go with classic colour combos like blue and red, or earthier ones like brown and orange.
Since they are a surf and skate boarding brand, Nixon bags are perfect for you skaters. Wanna strap on your boards on your bag instead of carrying them in your hand? Nixon bags are designed for that. Of course, the bag usage is not limited to just skateboarders! Priced at $179 (top) and $149 (bottom), the bags have ample space to carry multiple things – especially if you’re a student, a frequent camp-goer, or simply if you’re the kind of person who likes to lug things around.
They also carry belts too! If you’re keen to find out what other designs and colours are available for Nixon’s new Retro Pop collection, you can get your hands on them at the Nixon Concept Store at ION Orchard, #B3-13, the Nixon Shop-in-Shop at Tangs Orcahrd Level 4 or VivoCity Level 1, Clout 9 Store at Wheelock Place #02-09, and other authorised stores.
