Happy May the Fourth, and you know what that means: It’s the one day in the year that Star Wars fans can go all out and blast their social media feeds with everything from the galaxy far, far away. In fact, 2017 is the 40th anniversary of the film series, the first of which debuted in 1977 (Star Wars, retitled Episode IV: A New Hope in 1981).
You must’ve already heard that there’ll be an impressive line-up of activities at Gardens By The Bay tonight—psst, the SuperTrees are going to become SabreTrees—but there’s more to do beyond our borders. We don’t want to miss out of the fun, so we’ve curated the top two Star Wars-themed attractions from your favourite theme parks!
Star Wars Miniland, LEGOland Malaysia
Even the most menacing of the Sith lords get a cute makeover with the colourful plastic bricks of LEGOland. At the Star Wars Miniland, you’d get to see over 2,000 models that are built to a 1:20 scale with a crazy 1.5 million LEGO pieces! That’s not all. The brick Jedis and friends also come complete with the sound effects we know so well, like the lightsabre “zing-zings”. The Star Wars Miniland will also be split into seven zones, each inspired by a movie scene from the series.
LEGOland Malaysia Resort will be having its very own Star Wars Day celebration from now to 31 May 2017. Sign up for the speed-building LEGO contest, a crash course in light sabre combat or join the full costume Major Star Wars Parade Imperial March happening on 13 – 14 May! Want the most bang for your buck? Dress up your children (ages 3 to 11) in full Star Wars costumes for FREE ENTRY into the park!

The force is even stronger with the ever-popular Space Mountain roller coasters of Disneyland. For a limited time only, the ride gets a Star Wars-themed overlay, transforming into Hyperspace Mountain. The ride features new lighting, projections, and music, all to plunge each and every park goer into an exciting Death Star battle. If that’s not enough to quench your thirst for an escapade into The Empire, go for the Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. This 3D simulator ride takes you to traverse the different fictional worlds of the series, as C-3PO and R2-D2 go on a top-secret quest.
But, if you REALLY can’t celebrate Star Wars Day beyond our borders, do check out the Star Wars themed Silent Disco or watch Star Wars under a sky full of stars at The Meadow on 6 May.
