Awhile back, we posted a video on our Facebook page about a girl who painted a portrait of Yao Ming, a retired chinese professional basketball player. Ever since then, the Malaysian artist Hong Yi has catches the buzz on the internet with her rather unique talent.
Seen below is her latest work of painting Taiwanese musician, singer-songwriter Jay Chou with coffee stains. The young artist begins her unusual creative process by taking a sip of coffee, spills some of it in a small saucer and progressively uses the dirty bottom of the cup to start her paint which is meant to look like a sephia-toned old photograph to capture the essence of the artwork.
“The project was inspired by the opening line in Jay Chou’s song, It is inspired by the opening sentence, about lifting up a coffee cup off the saucer, and the ending of the song about autumn leaves and fragmented pieces.” – Red Hong.
