Or when you could run across the street and have everything you could ever want in the neighbourhood Mama shop?

 

The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) and the National Library Board (NLB) presents the Singapore Memory Project.

The Singapore Memory Project is a national initiative started with hopes of collecting, preserving and providing access to memories of Singapore. The project aims to collect 5 million personal memories by the year 2015, to commemorate Singapore’s 50th birthday.

 

It’s not the first time a project like this have been ventured. Another project known as Memoro, features a similar theme. The only difference is that the scope is widened, with regions like Latin America, North America and Africa being available.

 

Started in 2011, the Singapore Memory Project has already gathered almost 80 000 memories from various walks of life. To upload a memory to the site, simply create a personal memory account by signing in with their Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, or Windows Live ID, along with their NLB digital library accounts.

With only months away from the London 2012 – Summer Olympic Games, almost everyone’s turning their focus on it. Adidas has approached nine partners to take inspiration from their Olympic memories and convey it onto a pair of sneakers. Wiping to a clean slate, the first collection consist of 5 different sneakers, each design is unique and has a story on it’s own. Using all-white models from the Fall/Winter ‘Tabula Rasa’ range, they’ve transformed into their own creative visions.

“From Aloe Blacc’s transformation of the Decade Hi, to Sydney fashion designer Jim Thompson’s vintage track and field take on the Matchplay, Consortium SS12 is a diverse collection inspired by a range of creative backgrounds.”

adidas Consortium: Matchplay x Jim Thomson 

A designer and the brain child of menswear brand ‘Three Over One’, Jim Thomson was inspired from Adidas’s Track & Field archives, using the ‘Matchplay’ as a base for the sneaker, it features a premium waxed leather with a matching pigskin suede upper. A distressed leather heel tab and a black loop tag on the tongue that goes along with Adidas logo at the front. Lastly, a ‘Three Over One’ logo is presented at back as a finishing touch.

adidas Consortium: Pro Shell x DJ Muro 

Picking a strong deep color of choices such as dark green, black and pops of red, DJ Muro describe it as an ‘aggressive’ version of the Pro Shell. Offering along is a premium suede upper and together with a leather Adidas snake skin stripe pattern. A red loop tag on the tongue with Adidas logo at the front. Muros skull and cross bone logo are found on the heel. Topping all off with a DJ Muro’s trademark logo at the back.

adidas Consortium: ZX 500 OG x Quote

Remaining loyal to the 80′s original, sneaker collector ‘Quote’ uses the ZX 500 as the sneaker base, premium suede with a nylon and mesh upper. Grey loop tag on tongue with Adidas logo at the front. Symbolic colors of the Olympic is used on the outsole and concluding it all with a Quote logo at the back.

adidas Consortium: Decade Hi x Aloe Blacc

Soul singer and song writer Aloe Blacc has came out with his own rendition of the Adidas  Decade Hi. Touching on to the sneaker is a premium leather upper sitting on a full length translucent sole. A debossed logo of Blacc’s ‘sunglasses and bow tie’ sits on the medial. Leather lining is seen along the shoe with a brown loop tag on the tongue and to finish it off, Aloe Blacc’s logo is imprinted on the footbed.

adidas Consortium: Baltic Cup BC x Kate Moross

As a creative designer, Kate Moross’s distinctive style has earned her the spot in the design industry, a fascination with three sided shape hasn’t kept her of what it ought to be as an inspiration for this sneaker. Made out of premium suede upper, reflective geometric pattern is seen all over. A red loop tag on tongue with Adidas logo at the front and Kate Moross’s logo at the back. Using gum sole, the sneaker is also tagged with a green heel lop.

The world beyond the music realm mourned the recent demise of Hip Hop legend Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of the Beastie Boys. This Saturday (19 May), The Butter Factory pays tribute to MCA at ‘The Bizz Nizz’ – a Hip Hop Shakedown happening every third Saturday of the month.

 

As the years go by, some of the legends and innovators of Hip Hop slowly pass on. Each month, The Bizz Nizz throws back the old hits with DJs Stanley (AOS) and Zushan on the deck. While reminiscing  the good ol’ times, partygoers get jiggy to the likes of TLC, Ja Rule, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, 50 Cent and Nelly, mixed with today’s chart toppers.

 

Now what’s a party without a good deal on alcohol? This Saturday night, clubbers can enjoy Asahi Beer at SGD8 Nett.
