Asia’s leading sustainable light art festival, i Light Marina Bay will return this March. Themed Light & Nature, festival-goers can look forward to beautiful Instagram worthy art installations from Singapore and all around the world. This year, the public can anticipate a showcase of 22 light art installations, created from used bottles and containers contributed by the community and corporate partners. GastroBeats and Art-Zoo Inflatable Park will also return to the heart of Singapore’s city centre. New festival programmes include the Illumi Fest Run and the Illumi Bar.
Here are the things you should do and see at the festival:
Designed by students from Nanyang Polytechnic, Kloud is a beautiful interactive light installation that connects people and the colors of their ever-changing emotions. For physical interaction, festival-goers can touch the clouds to disrupt its lights. With the addition of a web application, selecting and altering the colors on the Kloud is possible.
2) Chandelier of Spirits
Cold brew bottles were collected to create this installation which lights up the city after sunset, the same way coffee lights up our energy during the day. This light installation not only shines brighter when there are more people around it, but it also sings and creates a harmonious chimes sound when the breeze blows.
3) Transistable Plastic
Made using plastic panels from vacuum bags, this installation allows visitors to submerge into plastic waste and lose themselves in its interior, feeling the inevitable sensation of claustrophobia and the loss of orientation at not being able to find the exit. Visitors may enter inside by rotating the panels so that each one will erratically move until they find their path.
4) Illumi Fest Run
Runners can look forward to a spectacular selection of activities to illuminate their race experience. Attractions include an Illumi slide, an Illumi Paint War, and an Illumi Splash Box, where participants can get creative with Illumi Glow Water. Participants will be doused in shades of neon glow water as they make their way along the Marina Bay waterfront.
5) Illumi Bar & Illumi Space
Debuting at Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, the Illumi bar will be incorporating LED-lit furniture made with reusable plastic tanks to engage visitors in games and activities. Adding to the Illumi experience, the interactive Illumi space will be occupying the waterfront by The Promontory, showcasing giant glowing installations of popular games such as Twister, Hopscotch, Jenga, and Tic-tae-toe for the public to enjoy.
Offering everything from delectable food options and music performances over four weekends, GastroBeats promises an eclectic lineup offering festival offers something new each time they visit.
Look out for amazing gastronomic delights while enjoying up-and-coming music acts!
7) Art-Zoo Inflatable Park
Welcoming visitors of all ages, the largest experiential inflatable playground returns this March.
