The endearing local label that we can always count on for our modern classics and wardrobe essentials, In Good Company is celebrating a momentous occasion this month with the opening of its first flagship store. Located at ION Orchard, the store boasts a lifestyle concept that showcases the brand’s core ready-to-wear collections, as well as its first café in partnership with Plain Vanilla Bakery.
Acting as a blank canvas to articulate a vision beyond clothes, the retail space links product stories and creative collaborations in one seamless shopping experience. It clearly shows how important the idea of collaboration and creative community-building is to the brand.
The brand philosophy and aesthetic that defines In Good Company is matched by the neomodern style and minimalist environment of the retail space. Designed in collaboration with award-winning interior design agency Traart, the store space employs clean lines and bold geometry.
The store will carry its full brand collections of womenwear, accessories, and Mini Me for girls (3-8 years old), offering wardrobe essentials and reinvented classics that are made to last beyond seasons. The retail space will also introduce a mix of independent creative brand products to add to the diversity of the store: curated magazine titles from Magpie; homegrown fiction and poems published by Math Paper Press; handcrafted bags by Hong Kong-based leathersmiths Hoiming, as well as fabric refresh sprays and laundry wash products from the independent Australian brand, Mr. Black.
In the heart of the store is the first In Good Company café, a deli-style café managed by Plain Vanilla Bakery. The café will introduce Plain Vanilla’s first extended menu beyond their famous cupcakes and small bakes. This includes breakfast foods such as homemade granola, fruit and yoghurt bowls with walnut crumble and agave nectar, speciality grilled sandwiches such as Prosciutto & Truffle on Ciabatta and Watercress Egg Aioli on homemade Brioche. Almost everything on the menu is made in small batches and made from scratch. This is Plain Vanilla’s philosophy to present heartfelt comfort food made in the philosophy of home-cooking. They focus on refining classic, familiar flavours, eschewing artificial ingredients and preservatives, relying instead on the natural flavours of the best and freshest ingredients.
The 800 sq. ft. café sits 20 people comfortably around communal tables designed by Nathan Yong – of FOLKS FURNITURE and co-founder of GRAFUNKT – in collaboration with the In Good Company’s design team. Envisioned as a little botanical oasis nestled in the heart of the store, the café is capped by lush ferns and greenery from local florist Triceratops.
The In Good Company store opens on 21 August 2015 at ION Orchard #B1-06. Opening hours 10.30am – 9.30pm daily. In Good Company Café opens officially on 30 August 2015.
