In celebration of Singapore’s 51st birthday, Singaporean all-female quartet The QI Ensemble pays tribute to Singapore’s homegrown Mandopop talents in a music medley. Putting together the well-loved ballads of Mavis Hee, Kit Chan, Stefanie Sun, Tanya Chua and JJ Lin, the tribute looks back at the songs and music videos that shaped the Chinese music scene in Singapore.
Featured songs include 铁窗 (Iron Window) by Mavis Hee, ⼼心痛 (Heartache) by Kit Chan, 开始懂了 (Begin to Understand) by Stefanie Sun, Beautiful Love by Tanya Chua, and 曹操 (Cao Cao) by JJ Lin.
The QI Ensemble is young, invigorating and exuberant, presenting popular works in a style that is both playful and dynamic. They comprise a mix of traditional Chinese instruments (Pipa and Dizi) and modern day Western instruments (Keyboard and Guitar). They have produced music videos of chart-topping hits done in their East- meets-West and youthful style, and have performed at Huayi – Chinese Festival of the Arts, Wan Qing Yuan ‘Night Under the Stars’, Exclusive Preview of The Guggenheim’s ‘No Country’ Exhibition, Resorts World Sentosa’s Lunar New Year Festivities and many more.
