For the bold and fearless tertiary students in Singapore on the lookout for the ultimate adventure, Red Bull Can You Make It? 2018 might be something you’re looking for. You will have to cover more than 1,000 Kilometres in one week with your teams before reaching the final destination, using nothing but Red Bull cans as currency.
If you are selected, you’ll be on this journey of a lifetime along with 199 other selected teams from 60 countries around the world. Departing on 10 April from one of the five Starting Points in Europe – Budapest, Madrid, Manchester, Rome, and Stockholm, each team will have to hand over their cash, credit cards, and personal phone. Instead of cash and credit cards, you will have to master the art of trading Red Bulls cans for everything you need on the one week journey to your final destination, Amsterdam. Food, accommodation, transportation to the next location and other adventures are just a few things you need to trade your Red Bull cans to get.
Your team will have to create your own path by visiting Checkpoints in various European cities where they will be tasked with Body & Mind Challenges, completing as many tasks on the Adventure List as possible, along with posting photos and videos that build report among their followers. Checkpoints will be located in different cities all throughout Europe. When a National Winner arrives at a Checkpoint, they are rewarded with more cans of Red Bull for the journey. Each Checkpoint will have a Challenge that you can complete to earn points. Challenges will test your team’s body and mind (including physical activities, puzzles, problem-solving) and will vary in difficulty, requiring strategy, creativity, and speed. You may only attempt each Checkpoint Challenge once. If you fail, you are not rewarded with any points for that Checkpoint. Your team will be required to visit at least six (6) Checkpoints on your way to the Finish Line in order to successfully complete the Main Event. Adventure List is a mix between a scavenger hunt and a bucket list, these are fun, engaging activities that can be completed at any time during the Competition. In order to receive credit for completion, your team must prove it through photo or video. The more points at stake, the harder it is to complete.
In 2016, teams did a mix of challenges from cooking up a country’s national dish or an epic medieval jousting battle.
Your team will be scored based on the Checkpoint Challenges, Adventure List tasks, and Social Following Achieved.
Are cans of Red Bull as valuable as cash, phones, and reservations? You bet they are! In the last Red Bull Can You Make It? back in 2016, 165 teams managed to live the experiences of their dreams, from jumping out of a plane to getting tickets to a Champions League Game.
If you are ready for the adventure of your lifetime, don’t forget to sign up by 14 February here.
Here are the steps to sign up for the ultimate student adventure:
Gather a team of three friends. All will need to be current tertiary students
Create a one-minute-long video explaining why your team should be chosen and submit it
at www.redbullcanyoumakeit.com no later than February 14, 2018. Be sure to share what makes you smart, clever, travel-ready and primed for the adventure of your life. Are you a master negotiator? Do you speak five languages? (Or have a special skill no one knows about?) These are all traits that make you stand out as the perfect choice to master Europe with nothing more than cans of Red Bull.
Now, sit back, relax and gather the support of your other friends, family members, your Business Law professor, the guy who runs the corner shop and that weird group on campus that role plays medieval battles in the quad, because the teams that receive the most votes from each country will become finalists! Yup – you do all that work creating your submission video, and then you must earn online votes before even getting to the starting line. After the voting period ends, a panel of judges will select the winners from those top finalists. They will then be invited to fly into one of the five Starting Points in Europe to begin their adventure, which will take them far from home, but bring them closer together. Your chance to be one of those teams starts today.
