Home-grown shoe brand PAZZION has collaborated with Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) to release an exclusive recycle bag to generate
greater awareness about Down syndrome and to dispel common misconceptions that are associated with those with this condition.
The bag will retail at SGD12and all net proceeds will be donated to the DSA to fund the daily enrichment activities of their members. It will be available from 1 July till 13 August, while stocks last. The classic recycle bag is printed with an artwork that is personally conceptualized and painted by Wan Yi, who is a member of the DSA. With her beloved pet dog as her inspiration, she incorporated eye-catching shades of blue and pink into a unique and quirky design, that depicts the fun times she has had playing with her dog. While juggling a full-time job, Wan Yi paints in her free time andenjoys looking through fashion magazines for inspiration. She hopes that she would be able to work in the fashion industry, as fashion designer one day. Wan Yi firmly believes that she can give back to the society while leading a fulfilling life at the same time.
Be it as a company or as individuals, PAZZION wants to contribute in ways to increase public awareness, eradicate misconceptions about Down
syndrome and to foster a stronger culture of inclusion. Through this collaboration with DSA, the launch of the recycle bags would showcase the diverse talents and skills that a person with Down syndrome can offer. PAZZION wants to bring about a community of acceptance and appreciation of diversity while giving others a platform to shine. Through the inception of PAZZION CARES in July 2014, they have
been actively involved in the community through various programmes and measures.
Apart from Down Syndrome Association (Singapore), PAZZION has collaborated with Breast Cancer Foundation, Singapore Heart Foundation and others to give back to the society while playing an integral role in public education. Tom Ng, the founder of PAZZION shared that “In alignment with our vision of PAZZION CARES, we are committed to helping the less fortunate and making a difference in our society. We are therefore honoured to collaborate with the Down Syndrome Association (Singapore). We want to advocate for equal opportunities for those with Down syndrome and assist them to make lasting contributions in society.”
“Down syndrome (or Trisomy 21) is a naturally occurring chromosomal arrangement that has always been a part of the human condition, being universally present across racial, gender or socioeconomic lines, and affecting approximately 1 in 800 live births, although there is considerable variation worldwide. Having a partner like PAZZION, we hope it can accelerate our efforts to remove the labels that many associate with this condition, which make PAZZION an invaluable pillar of support for the Down Syndrome Association (Singapore). With the community’s support, all funds raised will enable us to support persons with Down syndrome in various educational programmes which aim to educate and train them to lead productive lives,” said Andrew Soh, assistant director from Down Syndrome Association (Singapore).
In addition, PAZZION and the Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) have produced a video that showcases Wan Yi’s day to day activities –
cooking, having a meal, shopping, engaging with friends, and more. Through this video, they hope to show viewers that a person with down
syndrome still lead a normal, healthy life, just like any normal people. The video will be launched on 1st July on PAZZION’s social media channels.
The bag will be available at all PAZZION stores in Singapore as well as on their online store, while stocks last.
