Street Mode: Tokyo Platforms

“Give a girl the correct footwear and she can conquer the world”
-Bette Midler

Welcome to the first edition of Street Mode - a monthly column that will keep you up to date with what’s hot on the street style scene in Asia, and what is trending on the streets right now as we speak. Each month, we’ll feature a new street style trend, new photos, and a new city. And to kick things off, we head to the one-and-only trend-setting city in Asia… TOKYO! Here’s what we found…

Platform shoes - they’re everywhere on the streets of Tokyo right now! Whether it’s shoes, boots, sneakers, sandals or pumps, everyone seems to be opting for that extra few inches of height this summer. And we’re not just talking the classic platform high-heels, but we’re also loving the cool, casual, lace-up platform sneakers that are perfect for kickin around in during the hot summer days.

Super-high Converse hi-tops, bold prints, bright red shoes with ribbon laces for that feminine touch and punk rock spikes!

And if sneakers aren’t your thing, why not go for the platform sandals with pretty socks to match?

So there you have it, some quick snapshots hot off the streets of Harajuku. Next month, I’ll talk about another trend and share more photos from this trend-setting city of Tokyo. Stay tuned!

But for now, head over to the Nookmag Facebook page, and vote for your favorite Tokyo street style photo in this month’s special edition of Nooked. It’s easy! All you need to do is like and comment on your favorite Tokyo photo here and you’ll be in to win some cool super cool Converse vouchers. Competition runs until 14th September 2012 and is open to residents of all countries. So get liking, get commenting and good luck!
