Radiographic flowers are the key inspiration for GINLEE Studio’s Spring Summer Collection.
X-ray photographs of flora by artist Steven N Meyers were deciphered and artistically reinterpreted onto garments. Images of translucent florals gradually emerge from the delicate layering of silk chiffon, softly gracing the shoulders of tops and belted midi-length dresses. Skeletal plant stems emerge as abstract pin tucks on tops, while floral embroidered pyjama-styled shirts are recollective of Meyer’s solarised compositions. Digital prints take the form of ethereal watercolour petals on casual tops.
Experimental and multi-direction pleats are elegantly constructed into the Ivy Dress, a centrepiece of this collection. Tone-on-tone embroidery in varying densities quietly detail ankle-length dresses, exuding understated edge. Light summer knits complete the collection.
Spring tones of blush, pale blue, while classic neutrals gently color. Muted red and electric blue vitalise the collection, fashioned from silk and low maintenance fabrics.
The coalesce of radiographic arts, the brand’s signature relaxed silhouettes, and interesting textile techniques result in assemblage of styles, which charm with its feminine edge.
