Playing piano since the age of eight and self-taught on guitar, 17-year old singer/songwriter ANDREAH releases her second single and follow up to Asia Pop 40’s BUZZ track Best Friend, this week. Titled ‘You’, it will be made available on all digital platforms. The young musician, wrote the emotive song about a boy, and explains, “I think of my music as my journal, as each song comes with a backstory and points to a specific time in my life.”
The video for You was shot at the Pierce Reservoir in Singapore by producer Rick de Assis and captures the unique talent of this artist in a natural setting. Los Angeles-based producer Qura, who produced the song, has worked with Christina Aguilera, Eric Clapton and Annie Lennox.
ANDREAH has already enjoyed success on the stage having played the supporting act for famed Irish band and who she refers to as her “absolute musical inspirations” the Script in Singapore, Hong Kong and Manila in April this year, and touring the UK with popular up-and-coming boy band, RoadTrip, on their Summertime Tour. Her first headline show in Asia was at Heartstings, a charity concert held at the Rectory Theatre, Singapore in August in support of the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
As many of her songs are well suited to orchestration, the opportunity to perform at the Gala with the Jesselton Orchestra from Sabah, Malaysia was “just too good an opportunity to miss. I am thrilled to have been asked to perform at LOAF’s Gala Event and to give my support to such worthy causes”. The Event, which is themed “Night of a Million Dreams” will be held at the Tower Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel in the presence of His Excellency Indonesian Ambassador Mr Igeda Ngurah Swajaya, LOAF’s Guest-of-Honour.
LOAF’s Singapore Director Ety Wiranto adds: “Not only does Andreah sing so amazingly but she is also someone with a kind heart and great personality. I believe she is the right person to perform at the LOAF Gala as she will inspire our underprivileged Children from Batam and many more at the Gala, to dream BIG”.
Having grown up surrounded by music, ANDREAH cites being inspired by her mother to sing in the local church choir, and took up piano aged eight, began singing lessons at ten, starting to write songs with friends “for fun” at thirteen.
By the age of 14 she was writing on her own and is a self-taught guitarist, hence enabling her to develop more songs. “I hope my music can help people through rough and difficult times, as it has helped me.”
Additionally, ANDREAH will also be supporting Grammy award winning UK crooner Sam Smith at his ‘The Thrill of it all’ Asia tour on select dates in Singapore, Manila and Bangkok.
