The 24-Hour Playwriting Competition is back for its 16th year! For those who have a flair for writing or have dreamed of bringing their writing to life, the annual event presents to participants the challenge to write a play within 24 hours. Organised by TheatreWorks Writers’ Laboratory and South East Community Development Council (CDC), the event aims to create a platform to generate ideas and invent new writing. To inspire new ideas, the event will be held at the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, which has been reopened to the public in October 2011 and has revolutionised Singapore’s contributions to the 1911 Chinese Revolution.
There are two categories for the competition – Youth (15-18 years old) and Open (19 years old and above) category. The registration fee for each category are SGD$30 and SGD$40 respectively. Event details are as follows:

Best of all, not only will the winner gain a SGD$700 cash prize, but their winning play will be made into a full production and taken on a performance tour of ten venues in the South East District in 2013/2014.
