Westward is an award-winning leader in the rapidly growing American Single Malt whiskey category and a beloved New World Whiskey. As the highest rated American Single Malt, Westward pursues perfection through its philosophy of minimalist distilling, a crucial difference in an industry driven by the principle of mass efficiency. Going to great lengths to bring out the flavor of its grain, Westward also puts extreme focus and care into mashing and fermenting, ensuring every step of the process is executed perfectly.
To begin, a delicious American pale ale is brewed from scratch, using 100% locally malted barley, ale yeast, and a slow, low temperature fermentation. The fresh beer is then distilled twice in custom pot stills to create a bold, robust spirit, before aging the whiskey at 62% ABV in new, lightly charred American Oak barrels in Portland.
With hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, this is the ideal environment to raise a world class single malt whiskey. Bottled at 45% ABV, the result is a whiskey that is distinct, brazen, rich in character, and full of flavor.
