As part of the efforts in curbing COVID-19 in Malaysia, the Malaysian Government has launched various apps to assist the frontliners. One of the main aims is to have a network for contact tracing. Based on the World Health Organisation (WHO), contact tracing is a monitoring process of individuals who were exposed to an infected person, in this case, by the coronavirus.
1. MySejahtera

The MySejahtera App helps in monitoring your health during this period. With the app, perform health self-assessment for you and your family members. Make sure you’re honest as the data submitted will be used by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia for surveillance. This way, they can be alerted for any health changes in a certain location to take the necessary actions. The app is free to download and can be found in both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
2. MyTrace

This app uses Bluetooth to detect other MyTrace app users in close proximity and the duration of the contact. If a person with the app is diagnosed with COVID-19, not only will you be alerted, the Ministry of Health can also trace who the person has come in contact with. The data can also be shared on the MySejahtera app. The only downside of MyTrace is that it is only available on the Google Play Store for now.
3. Gerak Malaysia

For interstate travelling, use this app to apply instead of going to your nearest police station. Gerak Malaysia also aids the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and the police in tracing the movements of Malaysians nationwide. This helps to identify where you’ve been and the people you have potentially come in contact with for contact tracing.
4. SELangkah

Another app for contact tracing, the SELangkah app is Selangor State’s initiative in aiding the state health department in monitoring the disease. For business operators, they can register and obtain a QR code on the website. Visitors will then be required to scan the QR code on the app! This way, if there is a new cluster at an area where you have scanned, necessary measures can be taken.
With these apps, nationwide monitoring can be achieved! Do your part and download them. Though we have entered Conditional Movement Control Order, only go out when absolutely necessary. #StayHome and stay safe!
