As the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak continues, many of us are experiencing cabin fever with self-isolation. Cabin fever is the claustrophobic restlessness you get when confined in a space (in this case – home) for a long period of time. But fret not, there are ways to overcome it! Here are some tips to combat cabin fever.
1. Follow a daily schedule
Keep your days as close to your usual daily lives before the lockdown. Set specific times for meals and don’t forget to have breakfast! If you are working from home, follow your usual working times and this way, everything else will fall into place.
2. Keep moving
Self-isolation is the best time to exercise. As going outdoors is not an option, our daily steps are depleted greatly. With plenty of free time in your hands, use it to move and stay healthy. Not only will it boost your immune system, the endorphins release will elevate your mood! For free online workouts, click here.
3. Maintain social contact
It can get extremely lonely if you are quarantined alone. Keep in touch with your loved ones. You can also schedule phone calls or video calls with them. Stay active on social media and remember that you are not going through this alone.
4. Set goals
Set up daily or weekly goals to keep your motivated. Keep track of your progress and celebrate the milestones as you complete one goal to another. Give yourself something to look forward to. It could be a new skill, a work task or anything that brings you joy!
Give these tips a try! Stay home, stay healthy and remember, we are all in this together.
