What is the weight of a memory? How do our memories change us as a whole?
Singaporean artist Ren Zi takes moments from personal memory, history and mythology, brings a little drama and comedy into the mix and voila, you have ‘Between Earth & Void’.
Between Earth & Void, Ren Zi’s first art exhibition, presents five works from the ‘7 Elements’ series. Focusing on the main elements ‘earth’, ‘void’ and ‘door’, Ren Zi questions the role of memories and how they shape our very being. He believes that elements are not fixed states but, more so, states of change. In the 18 months invested into the making of this series, this local artist constantly experimented with different printing techniques and materials. The results are limited edition digital paintings printed on archival-quality bamboo paper. Each work is signed and numbered up till six.
The exhibition is open to the public on 16 March 2013 at The Factory (22 Lim Tua Tow Road).
