Slash, swipe and duck to the beat this March with CapitaLand’s Beat Saber Cup! Singapore’s gaming enthusiasts are now one step closer to channeling their inner intergalactic warrior, and being among the first in Asia to play Beat Saber, a unique virtual reality (VR) rhythm game, prior to its regional launch on the PlayStation 4. Bringing this exclusive experience to Singapore is CapitaLand, which will be hosting Singapore’s largest VR gaming tournament featuring Beat Saber across 14 participating malls from 1 to 31 March.
Beat Saber is best described as an amalgamation of elements from Tap Tap Revenge, Dance Dance Revolution, and Fruit Ninja. The exciting rhythm game comes complete with an immersive experience via sound and visual effects. Gameplay is simple – slash the beats as they come, with the correct coloured saber in the direction of the arrow and chalk up the combos! Currently available in the United States, the highly anticipated VR game is expected to roll out across Asia on the PlayStation 4 in the later part of this year.
CapitaLand Malls Beat Saber Cup 2019
In the month of March, shoppers and gaming enthusiasts alike can try their hand at Beat Saber at 14 CapitaLand malls, which will host “CapitaLand Malls Beat Saber Cup 2019” – Singapore’s largest VR competition of its kind. Perfect the slice and dice move and stand a chance to win a total of S$35,000 in STAR$® and prizes!
The tournament kicks off on 1 March at The Star Vista and Bugis+ with qualifying rounds, which will run till 29 March. The Top 8 contestants to emerge from the qualifying rounds will compete in the semi-finals on 30 March to determine the Top 4 finalists.
The final playoffs will be held simultaneously at Plaza Singapura and Clarke Quay on 31 March. The champion will walk home with the inaugural CapitaLand Malls Beat Saber Cup 2019 trophy and five million STAR$® (equivalent to S$5,000).
During the qualifying rounds, top scorers of the day per mall will win a Razer headset worth up to S$309.90 (limited to one headset per winner).
