On May 12, 2014 / By NookmagKate Moss is one of the most well-known supermodels of all time. Seven years after her first collaboration with Topshop, she does it again with a new Spring/Summer collection that shows off how she has evolved as a designer. According to Kate, her taste and choice in clothing has changed since her last collection. She took what she learnt from the first collection in terms of picking out fabrics, the design process, and quality and applied it in the new one.
This Spring/Summer, Kate included Balearic dressing, which is a reflection of her love for the Balearic Islands. This series come with embroidered smock-tops, silk blouses and a white kaftan. She also introduced pajama dressing! Be stylish and comfortable – best of both worlds. Being the style icon that she is, these pajama pieces are carefully designed to look stylish, without skimping on the comfort.
Every fashionista needs the perfect dress for a party. Kate’s collection comes with flirty and sexy cocktail dresses that has intricate beading and opulent trims. While Diane Keaton is always spotted with a tailored female tuxedo, Kate has taken that trend and added her flavour in the classic look that hugs your body at all the right places.
Topshop recently had the media preview for Kate’s new collection at the Knightsbridge outlet. Items in her collection range from $99 for a paisley scarf to $1379 for her jewel beaded dress (only available online at www.topshop.com). Unfortunately, the tuxedo is not yet available in Singapore.
Kate Moss Topshop Spring/Summer 2014 Collection will be available at all Topshop outlets, online at www.topshop.com, www.net-a-porter.com, and www.nordstrom.com.

On April 27, 2014 / By NookmagThis spring, Vans worked hand in hand with Della, a socially responsible fashion company, to release a line of footwear and accessories. Della works towards empowering the women of the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa. The company provides opportunities for women there to build a foundation for better life through jobs, education and skills training. This collaboration between Vans and Della was to create an opportunity to raise awareness of Della and its efforts.
The Vans x Della partnership consists of a six-piece footwear capsule for men and women with matching accessories. Vans tapped into Della’s team of designers to handcraft fabrics through a local batik process to create unique prints that were blended on the Vans classic Sk8-Hi Reissue, Era, Authentic, Sk8-Hi Slim. The two accessories are a large hobo bag and a wristlet. They included colours like blue, yellow, red and green in the collection to bring in the colours of Ghana’s surroundings.
Not all women are given equal opportunities and fair rights. Hopefully through this partnership, it will increase the awareness of Della and what they’re working towards- empowering women. Vans also travelled to Ghana to document an exclusive glimpse at the passionate, talented women behind Della. Watch their journey to West Africa with the Della team on OffTheWall.TV. Click here!

On April 25, 2014 / By NookmagLiving in a fast paced environment like Singapore’s requires us to constantly check our watches. We gotta keep track of time! Enter Slow Watch. This unique watch is simple with a 24-hour dial and singular hand.
The reason behind the creation of this watch is meaningful – especially in the present moment where we’re always rushing for time. It measures time as a 24-hour period, which means time is merely an estimation and this can “simplify our lives; to break away from the pace of constant clock-watching.” This idea was conceptualised by four friends who all recognised the need to enjoy life without letting it rush by: Christopher and Corvin from Germany, and watch designers May and Gabriele from Switzerland.
The Slow Watch bezel is made of brushed stainless steel, encapsulating a K1 mineral glass case over a Swiss-made GMT quartz movement. It has also been made so that it is exactly symmetrical in form when seen at all angles.
You can get your hands on the Slow Watch at Cumulus at Wheelock Place and Fiftyfive at Boat Quay.

On April 25, 2014 / By NookmagLadies, we’ve all bought shoes that end up hurting our feet at the end of the day. Our heels get a little sore, the arch of our foot gets a little bit cramped… That’s because that pair of shoes doesn’t have enough support for your feet!
I know, I know – who would want to wear track shoes all the time and get mistaken for someone who’s going for a workout? Reebok partnered with supermodel Miranda Kerr to come up with a new pair of shoes, Skyscape, that features 360 degrees of foam comfort in a fun, flirty silhouette that pairs perfectly with jeans, skirts or yoga pants.
You must be wondering, why Miranda Kerr? Well, instead of focusing on comfort underneath the shoe, Reebok wanted the user’s feet to be enveloped in comfort. Through the research process, they found inspiration in the home furnishings industry and… lingerie – specifically, moulded foam bras. Furthermore, Miranda Kerr is not only a supermodel who has to keep fit and model sexy lingerie. She’s also a mother to three-year-old Flynn. Running around all day can take a toll on a woman’s precious feet, and Miranda Kerr swears by the Skyscapes.
The upper part of the Skyscape is crafted using the same manufacturing techniques and processes as moulded foam bras, but using materials that have been optimised for the stresses and strains placed on the feet all day. The flirty lace-up silhouette comes in a broad range of colours to match any outfit or mood.
So if you’re a busy woman who is in need of a good, trendy and comfortable pair of shoes (or if you want to feel like Miranda Kerr), go get yourself a pair of Skyscapes! The Skyscape collection will be available from Mid-April 2014 in Stadium Takashimaya S.C, and Royal Sporting House: Tanglin Mall, Paragon, Great World City, Vivocity, Parkway Parade, Junction 8, Jurong Point, Tampines Mall, Northpoint, Causeway Point, JEM, NEX, and BHG Bugis Junction. Each pair retails for $99.

On April 21, 2014 / By NookmagCherry Blossoms… the star of every Instagram picture taken in South Korea and Japan. And possibly, the flower every die-hard romantic wants to be given – apart from the overrated rose. Or, on the simpler end of symbolism, Cherry Blossoms mean the beginning of Spring.
In celebration of this, New Balance has released two colourways of the 999 model, which draws inspiration from this ushering of Spring by Mother Nature. The soft pink version mimics the colour of the Cherry Blossom flowers, and the mint green version complements the collection by referencing the leaves of the Cherry Blossom tree.
The New Balance “Cherry Blossom” 999 collection retails for $169.00 and come in unisex sizing from US4-12. It launches on 12th April 2014 at all New Balance Concept Stores, Leftfoot and Limited Edt stores.

On April 20, 2014 / By NookmagSWANK’s Spring-Summer collection, entitled ‘Murder, She Said’, aims to bring back its roots: dark, satyr, yet playful design with high quality craftsmanship. SWANK created a (fictional) storyline for their Spring-Summer collection – a story of a mistress who killed her man and then concealed it with layers and layers of lies.
This collection consists of many ready to wear pieces such as playsuits, jumpsuits, matching sweater and sweatpants, sheer pieces and volume skirts in comfortable fabrics, perfect for hanging out with friends. Because of the nature of this collection (keywords: dark, crime, murder), the apparel’s colour palette revolves around black, white and grey. However, it’s still a Spring-Summer collection (and that calls for colour!), so SWANK added in a splash of vibrant pink embroidery on some of the pieces.
SWANK’s Spring-Summer collection is available online at their webstore, www.webstore-sswank.com and Gnossem Singapore, www.gnossem.com

On April 18, 2014 / By NookmagSummer is here! Well, technically it’s summer all year round in Singapore. All the more we should protect our eyes from the harmful UV rays. What better way to do that than by putting on a stylish pair of shades. Le Specs and MINKPINK have come up with their new line of shades revolving around thick frames and mirrored lenses.
Le Specs’ Summer line, Paradise, aims to allow the wearer to stand out from the crowd with its bold shaped, printed frames. If you’ve been looking for a pair of cat eye shaped sunglasses, look no further. Le Specs has a range of cat eye shaped frames that goes from subtle to extreme. Priced at $79, the Hatter Black (right) is one of the subtle cat eye shaped frames, while Tweedledee, $109, has a much more prominent cat eye shape.
The Paradise line also has a series of circle frames for those Beatles, John Lennon, or Harry Potter fans. Here is where it gets interesting. Le Specs has fused the feline, the wayfarers and the circle shaped lenses to create a pair of unique shaped frames, like that of the Cheshire, priced at $99.
If you’re a bigger fan of coloured and mirrored lenses, perhaps MINKPINK’s Summer line would suit your bill. The line brings together the classic wayfarers and aviators with coloured frames and mirrored lenses.
Unlike the typical black Ray Ban wayfarers, MINKPINK’s Say Anything – Milky Aqua (left), $49, has not only one – but two pops of colours! The milky green frame and the mirrored blue lenses would give any simple outfit that ‘oomph’ factor. Dusk Till Dawn – Gold Dust, $65, also gives another spin to the original aviators, with a slick satin gold dust metal frame and pink mirrored lenses.
Who says you can only be flashy and stylish with jewellery, when you can also do so with a unique pair of shades? Le Specs and MINKPINK’s summer line is available from 21 March 2014 onwards, at PLAYLAB at L4, TANGS Orchard and www.ashop.asia. You can also get Le Specs and MINKPINK sunnies at www.thewyldshop.com.

On April 17, 2014 / By NookmagTwo universally recognised icons join forces to release a footwear capsule, and it’s a must have. Vans and The Beatles will soon be available, in the best Off the Wall fashion, for your sneaker collection.
The collection of footwear showcases the artwork from the legendary Yellow Submarine album and film. Released in 1968, Yellow Submarine is hailed as the representation of good music and unique art. Now showcased on four original Vans Classics, the collaboration is the first of its kind and delivers an offering of artwork and colours taken directly from the album cover.
Yellow Submarine is based on a song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It tells the tale of peace, love, and hope – themes propelled by Beatles songs like “Eleanor Rigby”, “When I’m Sixty-Four,” and “All You Need Is Love,”. The film, also a legend, was recognised as the bridging of a freestyle approach and innovative animation techniques.
The Beatles Yellow Submarine by Vans is an exciting collection that will highlight the group’s global influence on music, art and pop culture. The footwear capsule drops in Vans stores in May.
