On March 26, 2014 / By NookmagAfter four years of research and development in the Nike Sport Research Lab and with feedback from some of the world’s best attacking playmakers, including Barcelona’s Andrés Iniesta and German forward Mario Gotze, the radical new Magista football boot redefines the concept of how football boots look and perform.
Designed for the player who is always moving and unlocking his potential on the field, the Magista combines a custom Nike last and Nike Flyknit construction to offer a snug fit at the arch, heel and forefoot.
It also features a new mid-cut Dynamic Fit Collar for a more locked-down fit and increased awareness of the body’s movements and interaction with the ground and the ball. With these features, the player can now have a more enhanced ball-feel and control of the ball.
Besides helping to aim for accuracy and speed on the field with the Magista, this pair of soccer boots also protect the foot from water and cold. Nike’s design team developed a special application of NIKESKIN placed over top the Flyknit. The skin is less than 0.1 mm thick and melts onto the knit to help protect from water that provide protection.
The Magista will be available in stores from 22 May 2014 at a retail price of SGD 399.

David Hockney and Anish Kapoor are names you’d associate with art, and rarely fashion. David is a British painter who dedicated his paintbrush to the pop art movement
On March 20, 2014 / By NookmagDavid Hockney and Anish Kapoor are names you’d associate with art, and rarely fashion. David is a British painter who dedicated his paintbrush to the pop art movement and is now considered to be one of the influencers of 20th century art. Anish’s work is more tangible, though no less whimsical than David’s. His visions come to life through its mix of architecture and sculpture. These two men have indirectly contributed to the fashion market, having inspired Club Monaco’s Caroline Belhumeur, the brand’s lead women’s designer.
Spring 2014
The Toronto-founded, New York-based label is bringing the graphic simplicity of David and Anish to its Spring Summer 2014 collection. Coupled with a colour shift to tones of pink, peach, and hits of sea green, this collection is an evolution to Club Monaco’s usual palette of black and white.
Spring 2014
Leather is a focal point throughout the Spring collection, and dresses and pants are constructed entirely from Italian leather. Mixed media patterns appear on the trims of skirts, sweaters, and the new spring shoe line. Summer on the other hand, focuses more on colour.
Summer 2014
The men’s collection explores the idea of modernity and patterns in new updated classics. The colour palette consists of grey, evergreen, and navy, with hints of mint and pink. “We’re always inspired by doers, makers, artists, and musicians; this collection was no different.” said Aaron Levine, the lead men’s designer for Club Monaco. Imagining what some of their favourite doers wore back in their day, Aaron then modernized these concepts for Club Monaco’s customers.
Summer 2014
The collection continues to tap into the creative scene, particularly London, with prominent photographer David Sims for their new campaign. Featuring Norwegian model Iselin Vollen Steiro and Mexican hotelier and model Nicolas Malleville, the campaign lets the apparel stand out against the use of minimal backgrounds and flat studio lights.
Visit Club Monaco at #B1-41/47/48 Takashimaya S.C., Ngee Ann City, 391 Orchard Road.

On March 20, 2014 / By NookmagFred Perry is back with a capsule collection this Spring/Summer 2014. Bringing you Margate On The Run, this collection captures the spirit of the cool kids in the past -skinheads and scooter boys -attending “weekender” rallies at British seaside towns where they listen to live music and dance in their Fred Perry shirts.
Back then illustrator, Paddy Smith, who has a penchant for scooters, began producing and selling commemorative “weekender” patches. The designs were hand-printed and exclusively available at each event. People who attended the weekender rallies wore the medals proudly as a proof of attendance and each patch was unique to the event and the design told a story about the date and destination.
This season, Paddy Smith has designed six exclusive patches for Fred Perry, illustrating the enduring relationship between Laurel Wreath and British subcultures. For guys, look forward to the key piece of the collection which is the Whitsun Weekend Print Shirt; in 100% cotton the repeat print on this shirt depicts the now infamous clashes of the mods and rockers on the beaches of Southern England. Camouflage has also been applied to Fred Perry shirts in this collection.
Ladies, gear up with a parka in fish-tail style in this collection. Camouflage has also been applied to Fred Perry shirt with red tipping and a vintage red shirt features a garment treated exclusive patch on the right breast are in this collection for the ladies. Shoes are also included with the Alma Penny Loafer that comes in both black and sand suede and features camouflage lining and a small platform sole.
This range is available at the Fred Perry Authentic Shop, ION Orchard #B3-01.

On March 19, 2014 / By NookmagReebok’s Pump Fury series has come a long way. 20 years after its debut, sneakerheads are still clamouring over the iconic footwear. To celebrate its anniversary, Reebok chose – without much thought – icons and much loved brands Limited Edt and Hypethetic. No surprise, as their design forte in this fashion market has earned them the loyalty of sneaker fans.
Limited Edt, whose boutique stores Vault and Chamber have been dubbed Temples for Sneakers, and Hypethetic, the clothing label and customising collective that many trust, have come up with the tenth of 27 unique designs that Reebok will be releasing from partnerships with acclaimed designers from all over the world this year.
For this collaboration, Limited Edt appointed Joe Cher, a.k.a Twistedjoe, founder of the Hypethetic, to give his artistic take on the Pump Fury classic. The result is a harmonious blend of Hypethetic’s signature colours and style elements, as well as the aesthetics of Limited Edt stores.
The ocean’s lethal Devil Ray was Joe’s inspiration for the pump’s mottled black and grey upper. With Reebok, Limited Edt, and Hypethetic logos in futuristic silver, two metallic silver stars representing the Fury’s 20-year legacy, a metallic chrome accent on the heel, and a blue inner lining, these rare pumps celebrate the well-loved Reebok Insta Pump Fury composure with an added sophisticated charm and a touch of “gangsta”.
Each pair will come with an individually numbered holographic box designed by art house WHALERABBIT. The exclusive shoe box is specially fabricated from polished translucent black acrylic, accented with a hexagonal holographic glow, and a magnetic lock with nickel-plated logos to boot. Adding to its exclusivity, a special-edition and not for sale t-shirt will also come with each purchase.

On March 12, 2014 / By NookmagWe know how the “15 Singapore Homes so beautiful you won’t believe they’re HDB flats” article has been roaming around on Facebook. Admit it, you’ve been thinking about your ideal home too, haven’t you?
Whether it’s a HDB flat, condominium apartment, terrace, or bungalow, you can always count on making your home beautiful with awesome interior design. But what if renovating your entire house costs a bomb? Fear not, an alternative to giving your home a new breath of life can be as simple as having new furniture or home décor items!
CB2 has came up with a new Spring Lookbook – think florals and pastels – that is perfect for adding some colour and prints into your dream home. Keep your eyes peeled as Nookmag shows you our favourite picks from CB2 latest Spring collection.
Hedgehog Tealight Holder
We like how cute this tealight holder is. It’s a hedgehog! Spring is also about cute animals right? Having it in a bright sunny yellow also adds to this quirky ornament.
Bruce Pillow
Forget elegant pillows. Throw one of these onto your comfy couch and make friends with the very cool Mr Bruce.
Cheval Orange Wine GlassThis wine glass gives vintage a modern twist with a pop of spring that will look gorgeous in your new home. Besides, who wants boring ol’ wine glasses? It’ll be more fun sipping your red wine from this!
TPS File Cabinet
White furniture is overrated, and white cabinets remind us too much of musty old offices. Pink, however, is definitely a spring colour we love – look at how gorgeous this pastel shade is! Make your office look like a scene out of Wes Anderson movie with this cabinet. What’s better is that there are wheels, making it easy to be maneuvered around your house, wherever you want it to be.
Marble Floor Lamp
Sleek yet quirky, this lamp is definitely our favourite pick. It has an industrial and clean vibe that is quite popular these days. We wished it was available in pastel colours though. Still, we’ll pick this over a dull lamp any day.

On March 10, 2014 / By NookmagDid you know that exercising the right muscles in your feet allows you to achieve small performance benefits, like adding millimeters to a vertical leap or shaving milliseconds off a race time? On November 7, 2013 / By NookmagAs teens, we were probably in a hurry to push away anything that wasn’t very cool, too cutesy, or cartoonish. Ask a growing child to put on a Bugs Bunny tee and he’ll reject it, pointing instead to a slouchy raglan or plain black tee. Cartoon prints were for kids. Then adulthood rolled in and now we are just wishing for the days when we could frolick around in a Daffy Duck hoodie and eat cereal without a care in the world. With Lazy Oaf’s latest collaboration with Warner Brothers this Fall ’13 (they teamed up to do a Batman collection in 2012), your days of lounging in Looney Tunes apparel is back. Trust Lazy Oaf to make childhood cartoons cool again.
Celebrating designer Gemma Shiel’s love for the classic Looney Tunes cartoon iconography, the collection highlights the maniacal personalities of the Looney Tunes characters playing around with crazed prints of a puzzled Daffy Duck, cross-eyed Bugs Bunny and spaced-out Taz. The characters are blown up big or put in unexpected places – Sylvester and Tweety can finally be side by side with their prints on a bralet.
Inspired by 90s street wear, the Lazy Oaf men’s collection has an American sports twist with the That’s All Folks catchphrase printed across a short sleeved baseball shirt. The collection is also completed with the range of signature Lazy Oaf accessories such as beanies and caps with a Looney Tunes takeover.
The Lazy Oaf x Looney Tunes collaboration collection will be available in November at ACTUALLY, 313 Orchard Road, 313@Somerset #04-06 Singapore 238895 and price ranges from $39 to $155.
