A few weeks ago, Polaroid launched a new pocket printer for your imagination, the Polaroid Hi-Print. Using the dye-sublimation process for fade-proof prints, Polaroid continues to bridge the gap between instant photography and digital creativity by offering a premium 2×3 pocket printer with stickered backs.
Find it, print it, stick it: it’s that simple with the Polaroid Hi-Print. A friendly pocket printer that turns photos, screenshots and the digital world on your smartphone into high-quality, credit card- sized, self-adhesive prints.
As Polaroid expands its range of portable, easy-to-use mobile printers, the dye-sublimation printing technology offers brilliant, consistent, and high-resolution photographs. With all-in-one cartridges, the Hi-Print printer uses heat to seal in the final image in under a minute for water-resistant prints. Featuring an adhesive back, the idea is that Hi-Print photos would find their homes on lockers, scrapbooks, and more.
The Polaroid Hi-Print is the first instant digital product to be released from Polaroid since the company’s rebrand in March, marking its dedication to all facets of the classic Polaroid experience: transforming memories into physical photos.
The Polaroid Hi-Print brings mobile photos and memories to life through the iOS and Android supported app. The Polaroid Hi-Print app allows users to further unleash their creativity with an extensive suite of photo editing tools including filters, overlays, frames, text, stickers, and more.
For vibrant premium prints, the Polaroid Hi-Print uses 2.1-by-3.4 inch (54 × 86mm) paper cartridges. The new dye-sub paper offers an all-in-one cartridge containing a color ribbon and 10 sheets of photo paper, with two cartridges included in each package. It’s all you need to print pocket size, lifelike photos ready to stick here, near, and everywhere.
In general, Hi-Print highlights include the following features.
Now available, you can get the Polaroid Hi-Print 2×3 Pocket Photo Printer online from Polaroid for €99.99, and the Polaroid Hi-Print 2×3 Paper Cartridge (20 prints) at €16.99, excluding shipping fees. Alternatively, check out local retailer OKB Polaroid to skip the waiting time, where the printer and paper cartridges will be available for SGD218 and SGD28 per piece respectively.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has made headlines once again! Other than supporting Kanye West on his road to presidency, the billionaire is working on another out of this world project – a chip to be implanted in the brain for various reasons, and streaming music is one of them. Only the whackiest project from Elon Musk!
The Neuralink involves implanting flexible threads of electrodes into the brain which will pick up the neuronal signals blasted by our brains and transmit them to a computer. Musk believe that this next-generation advancement will lead to the cure of many neurological diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
After posting a tweet to recruit more revolutionary minds to work for Neuralink, a user on Twitter had Musk confirm on the unconventional way of streaming music.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 19, 2020
Neuralink has long been in the works with a livestream session already available in 2019, where Musk revealed the use of laser to implant the electrodes instead of (shudders) drilling the skull.
With the success of SpaceX, all eyes are on Musk and his team to revolutionise not only the field of neurology and technology, but also the way we enjoy our tunes in the future. If you are an engineer, hop on the train! For more info, visit the website.

It’s time for the next step in Polaroid’s 82 year journey – a Polaroid for Now.
Founded by Edwin Land in 1937, Polaroid was a known icon of innovation and engineering. While the company began by producing ski goggles and 3D glasses for the US Army and Navy, it wasn’t until 1943 when Land’s daughter asked why she couldn’t see a photograph of herself immediately that the idea for the instant camera was born. In 1947 it became a reality with the first ever instant camera.
Fast forward to 2020, Polaroid Originals will mark the final chapter of its 2017 revival story this month, returning to its original name ‘Polaroid’ and unifying the brand to create products that bring people together in meaningful ways. To celebrate, Polaroid will unveil a fresh new look and feel for the decade, debuting with its new autofocus instant analog camera range, Polaroid Now.
Launching onward from March 26, 2020, Polaroid Now presents an easier point and shoot camera for everyone. With a newly developed autofocus lens system, 15-pack battery life, accurate flash and a friendlier, more functional camera design – it has never been easier to snap the perfect Polaroid photo regardless of your photography skill level.
Embodying Polaroid’s new look for the decade, the Now camera range will be available at launch for a limited time in each of Polaroid’s five iconic rainbow colors: red, orange, yellow, green and blue – and will land alongside the classic black and white cameras, which will continue to be the core colorways. The new camera design embraces curved, fluid lines marking a move away from the angular cases of the past, allowing users to hold, view and use with ease.
“In the 70’s, Polaroid changed the rules of branding with the introduction of bold, full panel rainbow spectrums across our product lines, inspiring a host of legendary brands to this day. As this new decade marks a new chapter in the Polaroid story, it’s a moment for us to celebrate that heritage, while keeping our sights set on the future. The new identity for 2020 reflects this, boldly reclaiming the color spectrum as uniquely Polaroid.”
CEO of Polaroid
The rainbow spectrum continues to weave through the brand’s offering with the launch of its new special edition instant film, Color Wave. The colorful new film features a host of hues, from moody blues to warming orange and red frames, perfect for moments in the sunshine. Alongside this, the Color i-Type Film – Black Frame Edition will be available for the first time and will become a permanent fixture in the Polaroid product offering.
Polaroid Now allows you to focus on the moment at hand; with new technology that does the rest. Unlike its predecessors, the OneStep 2 and OneStep+, the new instant camera enjoys a lens that automatically switches between distance and portrait formats – for a more precise shot each time. A standout feature for the camera is its accurate flash, which takes the lighting conditions into consideration, allowing for great results in lower lighting situations – even when you’re not using the flash. Polaroid Now also boasts a long lasting battery life – with the power to shoot 15 packs of film – making it the perfect accessory for any adventure.
Polaroid Now, the Color i-Type Film -Black Frame Edition, and the Color Wave Edition together with new Packaging Core Film are now available for pre-orders at OKB Polaroid at the price of SGD238 and SGD32 per pack of film respectively.

Launched on 25 September, Dayre by Create Collective is primed to be the world’s first ad-free online community for women. The platform is dedicated to providing women an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for real girl talk – authentic stories and reviews, unfiltered thoughts and experiences, and untold secrets – without judgement, ads, algorithms or illicit mining of user-data and content.
What is Dayre?
First introduced in 2013 by a blog advertising network as a microblogging App, Dayre was created to make it simpler and more convenient to blog via mobile devices. Since then, Dayre has evolved organically to become a vibrant community of over 300,000 real women who bond over bite-sized anecdotes of their daily lives and in seeking out relatable and informational content. Dayrean sub-
committees such as #DayreBeauty, #DayreTravel, #DayreMummies, #DayreBrides, and #DayreFatties, have also sprung up to cater to specific interests, deepening the sense of belonging amongst women from all walks of life.
In 2018, Dayre was acquired by Create Collective, a venture established by M&C Saatchi that is committed to building communities for the digital age. Under Create Collective’s wing, Dayre’s new proposition enhances its offerings as an inclusive space designed for women with a subscription-approach, akin to a community membership, that ensures the safety and privacy of its users.
“Dayre has always been an authentic platform where women empower each other with personal stories and bond through common interests and passions. With the newest version of Dayre, we want to make certain that Dayreans can always trust Dayre to be a safe and conducive space for them to express themselves and hold real girl talks,” shares Katherine Teo, Creative Collective’s co- founder and partner.
At only SGD4.50 a month, the new subscription model is designed with writers and readers in mind. Writers are empowered with the freedom to share their unadulterated thoughts and decide on who gets to read them without fear of appearing on online searches, unwanted trolling and attention while readers will be able to enjoy complete control over who they follow, and the content they choose to read, free of push content. Non-members can also continue to follow real, unique, moving, and inspiring stories as told by women from all walks of life on the new website at Dayre.
Apart from online perks of being in a members-only community, Dayreans will also enjoy exclusive access to community events, dubbed #DayreAFK (Dayre Away From Keyboard). #DayreAFK is Dayre’s initiative to foster a strong community of women through on-ground events such as mum talks, beauty workshops, styling classes, career fairs, tea-tasting sessions, and more.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. introduces the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, smartphones that rethink the way people communicate, share and experience the world.
Made for an age where consumers increasingly communicate and express themselves with images, videos and emojis, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ drive innovation with Samsung’s advanced camera.
Both models are equipped with a new Dual Aperture lens that powers an innovative low light camera, Super Slow-mo video capabilities and personalised AR Emoji, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ also ensure that users do not miss a moment, where their every day can be made epic.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ deliver an enhanced entertainment experience with powerful stereo speakers tuned by AKG, immersive audio with Dolby Atmos® and a refined edge-to-edge Infinity Display1 – a key staple in Samsung’s design heritage. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will also come with the new SmartThings app, which unites Samsung’s existing IoT services all into one single, smart experience.
Today’s cameras are for more than taking pictures for connecting and communicating. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ cameras are built with a SuperSpeed Dual Pixel sensor with dedicated processing power and memory to take amazing shots with high photo quality. The Galaxy S9 and S9+’s camera features include:
Capabilities in taking slow-motion video that captures 960 frames per second. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also offer automatic Motion Detection, an intelligent feature that detects movement in the frame and automatically begins to record – all users have to do is set up the shot. After capturing the Super Slow-mo video, users can select background music from 35 different options or add a tune from their favourite playlist. Users can also quickly create, edit and share GIF files with a simple tap in three playful styles of looping to watch the action over and over again.
Low Light Camera
Samsung’s Dual Aperture2 (F1.5 / F2.4) automatically lets in more light enter the sensor when it’s dark and less light when it’s too bright, taking optimising the exposure based on the lighting condition.
Samsung lets users create an emoji that looks, sounds and acts like them. AR Emoji uses a data-based machine learning algorithm; it analyses a 2D image of the user and maps out more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions, like winks and nods, for true personalisation. AR Emoji shares users’ real-life emotions not only in video but also with a range of stickers and uses a standard AGIF file format so that users can share their emojis across most third-party messaging platforms like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram etc.
Samsung’s intelligence platform, integrated into the camera, uses augmented reality and deep learning technologies to provide helpful information about a user’s surroundings3. With real-time object detection and recognition, Bixby instantly generates data directly on top of the image that the camera is pointing. Users can translate foreign languages and currency in real time with Live Translation, learn about their surroundings, purchase products seen in the real world and track calories throughout the day4.
Smartphones are often our go-to choice for entertainment, which is why Samsung created a device that offers premium sound experiences with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. Sounds are crystal clear, crisp and rich in quality, whether users are watching their favourite movie or streaming their favourite artist’s latest album. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also support Dolby Atmos, giving the effect of 360-degree sound.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ audio experience complemented by Samsung’s revolutionary Infinity Display. First introduced on the Galaxy S8, the bold, bright Super AMOLED Infinity Display blends right into the phone with virtually no distracting notches. With adaptive contrast enhancement, users can use their device even in direct sunlight.
The Best Comes Standard with the Galaxy Foundation
Samsung sets the gold standard for smartphones with IP687 water and dust resistance and wireless charging and goes a step beyond with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The devices now support the expandable memory of up to 400GB with a Micro SD Card and are equipped with the latest premium application processors offering dominant performance and sophisticated image processing.
Samsung’s latest defence-grade security platform supports three different biometric authentication options – iris, fingerprint, and facial recognition – so users can choose the way they want to protect their device and applications.
The devices feature Intelligent Scan, a new verification that intelligently uses the collective strength of iris scanning and facial recognition technology to quickly and conveniently unlock a user’s phone in various situations. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also introduce Dedicated Fingerprint, giving users the option to use a different fingerprint to access Secure Folder than the one used to unlock the phone.

I am saving the best for the last; the diagnostics section is the most critical section that every Samsung user should take note.
Samsung had done a great job to recreate hardware test mode into a clean and straightforward graphical interface.

Alongside with cleaning unwanted memory and storage, uninstall unused apps to free up internal storage space and improve your phone’s performance.

Want to find out if OPPO’s cameras are as good as it claims to be? Head over to The Playground, an interactive pop-up store located outside the mainOn November 27, 2017 / By Nookmag
Want to find out if OPPO’s cameras are as good as it claims to be? Head over to The Playground, an interactive pop-up store located outside the main entrance of Wisma Atria on Orchard Road, where OPPO’s latest camera phones will be put to the test through curated photography studios.
You can test out these features at The Playground’s night-time photography studio to experience how the dual rear cameras perform, capture the ultimate ‘Gram in the beauty box to see how OPPO’s AI Beauty Recognition technology stacks up, and discover for themselves just how impressive images are when captured by the R11s and R11s Plus in the portrait studio.
New technology for the ultimate smartphone photography experience
The dual rear cameras on the R11s and R11s Plus have been re-engineered to capture the highest quality of portraits for both day and night conditions.
The 16MP and 20MP rear cameras function as primary cameras for different light conditions. The 16MP rear camera takes on the primary role of normal everyday shots in brightly lit environments, while the 20MP high definition camera becomes the main camera for low-light environments.
OPPO’s AI Beauty Recognition technology on the front camera scans for 254 facial recognition points in 3D for each subject, references them against a database of facial images, and analyses features based on gender, age, skin texture, skin colour, expression and environment scenarios before making enhancements that are customised for each subject. As a result, selfies are all the more visually stunning, without compromising the natural look of each selfie subject.
Together with the dual cameras and enhanced AI technology, the R11s and R11s Plus offers a higher sensitivity to light and large aperture to allow more light into the device, resulting in even clearer and brighter images than ever before.
Simple yet bold design
For an immersive camera phone experience, the OPPO R11s features a 6.01-inch full-screen display to bring images to life, and is available in black, champagne and red. The red model is a special variant, developed with a unique starry sky screen. On the other hand, the R11s Plus comes equipped with a 6.43-inch full-screen display, battery, and more RAM than the R11s, and is available in champagne and black.
The crescent arc design of both phones, which are the concave indentations at the bottom edges, holds the headphone jack, speaker and mini USB port. Sound projection is no longer muted by the user’s hands. At the same time, OPPO has enhanced the firm grip and aesthetics of the slim and sleeker body, which rests snugly in the palm.
Under the hood, the R11s and R11s Plus are powered by the Qualcomm SnapdragonTM 660 chipset that comes with exceptional battery life with the 3205mAh battery and the proprietary VOOC Flash charge technology.
Enhanced user experience with ColorOS 3.2
The R11s and R11s Plus run on ColorOS 3.2, which has an overall smoother performance, is faster and safer, and even enables users to multitask using the split screen mode. Facial unlock uses AI to recognise the user and can unlock the phones in just 0.08 seconds. Other unlocking functions such as a password and fingerprint scanner on the back of the phones have also been made available on the R11s and R11s Plus.
The OPPO R11s camera phone is available for purchase in Singapore from 2 December for SGD699. Pre-order starts from now at https://www.oppostore.com.sg/products/oppo-r11s. The OPPO R11s Plus will go on sale on 9 December and will be priced at SGD849.
The Playground pop-up store will be held outside of Wisma Atria’s main entrance on Orchard Road from now to 25 December from 12pm-10pm daily.

Apple announced the release of its most expensive phone to date, iPhone X. There are several things about its features which caught the attention of many ardent Apple fans – durable all-glass body, augmented reality, and its resistance towards water and dust.
However, what caused quite a stir around the world is the price tag of Apple’s new phone. This premium handset starts at a shocking SGD999 in Singapore and has angered many fans with its exorbitant cost.
But Singapore isn’t the most affected by Apple’s worldwide price changes. According to a global price comparison study by CupoNation, consumers in Europe are paying a higher price for Apple phones – and the launch of iPhone X isn’t changing anything. In fact, Hungary is the most expensive country to purchase an iPhone X.
If you are a fan who is bent on getting your hands on this premium glass phone, US and Japan are the cheapest countries, where Apple Stores will charge iPhone X buyers the equivalent of £755 and £771 respectively.
Previously, the UK was a favourite destination for iPhone lovers, however, as the pound rate tumbled, US and Japan became fast new destinations for those planning their iPhone travels this year.
So, now may be a good time to check out flight tickets to Tokyo for a much-welcomed family holiday while bringing back a nice holiday treat of the brand new iPhone X for yourself!
With OPPO’s newest launch of its R11, competitors in the market might be facing their toughest match ever, and here’s why we think so. The OPPO R11 isOn September 12, 2017 / By Tian Tian
The OPPO R11 is created with its users in mind. First of all, the shell of OPPO R11 is designed with a purposeful arched back that allows a comfortable and snug hold, ensuring that your butterfingers will not get a chance to slip this piece of art out of your hold.
In addition to that, the OPPO R11 is built to ensure users get the best out of its charging experience. With just 20 minutes of charging time, the OPPO R11 has the ability to achieve about 50% of its battery life. The flash charge surpasses most of the smartphones in the market, which means you can bid carrying multiple chargers around goodbye.
Quite seemingly, the crux of OPPO R11 is in its camera functions. As of now, it is the most powerful camera phone OPPO has ever introduced. Packed with an astounding 20 megapixels for both its front and back cameras, you will never have to worry about blurry images taken with a zoomed-in function. To sweeten this, the back camera is complemented with an additional 16 megapixels. When used together, images can be taken exceptionally clear with an astonishing 36 megapixels, equivalent to that of professional cameras.
So what if you are an iPhone user who really liked what is mentioned above, but is afraid to take the leap to switch? Well, for iPhone users who are used to the iOS interfaces, the OPPO range of phones is known to have interfaces similar to that of iOS. So, if you ever feel like you might take a long time to get used to using Android phones, perhaps OPPO might just help you ease into that familiarity.
Available in gold, black and red, capture life’s greatest moments with the Oppo R11 now!
