Converse First String is a limited-edition sneaker collection that celebrates craftsmanship, authenticity and collaboration at the highest level. Bringing his own creative twist to Converse for the third time, Dr Romanelli introduces the traditional Japanese sewing technique Boro into a Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneaker. Combining different vintage-inspired fabrics to create a one-of-a-kind cut-and-sew design, the Converse X Dr Romanelli Chuck Taylor All Star draws inspiration from a vintage World War II U.S. Army jacket that belongs to Romanelli’s personal collection, paired with a coarse cotton plaid and displays both brands’ appreciation for premium materials with olive cotton twill.
Darren Romanelli (DRx) is a menswear designer and innovator based in Los Angeles. Always engaged in collaborative projects that allow his self-expression to shine through, Romanelli truly has an eye to create refreshing and unexpected styles that are limited edition. Using different construction methods, every combination of fabrics on each panel of the sneaker presents a unique Romanelli style. The materials are aged and accented with bleach spots so as to bring the Boro effect to match the classic Converse style.
