Triple the bands equals triple the fun on the 20 January 2015 as Crossing Seas presents Taiwanese math rock trio Elephant Gym, Malaysia’s NAO and our very own homegrown instrumental act Sphaeras. Crossing Seas brings you an experience full of different flavours from across the region. Have a taste of some post-rock, progressive rock, instrumental and even a tinge of jazz.
First on the Crossing Seas line up are Elephant Gym who’ll be performing in Singapore for the first time ever! Expect songs from their album “Angle” (which have been nominated for not one but 5 nominations in the 5th Golden Indie Music Awards 2014). This Taiwanese math rock trio are known for their distinctive and epic bass line, emotional guitar riffs and melodic drumming. Not only that, there’ll be a special guest vocalist, Enno from Chocolate Tiger 猛虎巧克力 who’ll be joining them in Singapore!
Having Japan’s rich musical expression as their key influences are NAO, a mix rock and experimental outfit from Malaysia. Think classic punk energy of the legendary Fugazi and modern day’s metal upstarts from System of a Down. Don’t miss out on this second act of the evening and be enthralled by their diverse mix of joyous melodies with a dash of psychedelica.
The third and final act of Crossing Seas features Singapore’s very own homegrown heroes, Sphaeras. Formed in July 2013, this instrumental act has both math rock and post rock textures which incorporates odd time signatures and full blown metal riffs. You’d be blown away by this 4-piece instrumental outfit. Listen to their tunes here.
Crossing Seas happens on the 20 January at BluJaz Cafe (11 Bali Lane, 3rd Floor) from 7pm-11pm. Tickets are priced at SGD26(standard) and SGD30(at the door). Get your tickets here.
