Dixon, the founder of Berlin’s Innervisions label, and recently crowned the world’s No 1 DJ, will be performing at Volar in Hong Kong this Chinese New Year holiday. This title, given by dance music bible Resident Advisor, comes with a comment that proves his popularity even further; Resident Advisor said: “Dixon has made an art out of creating transcendent dance floor moments.”
His performance on February 1, 2014 will be his only appearance in Asia all year. His epic, emotional sets have captivated millions of people around the world and his presence in Asia will be a memorable event.
Some of Dixon’s career highlights include mixing the acclaimed Body Language Vol. 4 disc for Get Physical and headline appearances at the world’s largest electronic music festivals – but the major milestone came in 2005 when he founded the Innervisions label with the production duo Ãme.
Launched in an era when minimal sounds were dominating clubland, Innervisions arrived with a deep and innovative take on house music that bought emotion back into the mix, and the label has evolved into one of the dance music world’s most influential imprints thanks to releases such as “Howling” by Ry and Frank Wiedemann.
Dixon appears at Volar (B/F 38-44 D’Aguilar St, Lan Kwai Fong) on February 1, where he’ll be supported by the PUSH DJs and special guest Adam Swain (from Australian label Buxton Records). The gig will start at 10pm.
Advance tickets (with 2 drinks before 12.30; 1 drink after) are $150 (early bird first release) and $250 (second release). At the door tickets (both with 2 drinks) are $300 before 12.30am and $400 after $12.30am). Available from www.dixon.ticketflap.com
