Gem Bar has had a good streak so far. Remember DJ Numark’s wild set with toys? How about DJ Yoda’s mesmerising set, with its technicality and selections. And how can one forget Sarah Love rapping Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s East 1999?
This streak is set to go on with Japanese turntablist Ishi Hideaki aka DJ Krush whose performance is scheduled March 7. It will be a journey through distinguished soundscape, earmarked by experimental hip-hop and plotted by the master himself.
To open an impressive act is the legendary Jonathan Nah himself. Also known as Kiat, he will gear your aural senses up. Just as DJ Krush is regarded as the godfather of abstract hip-hop, Kiat is known as Singapore’s father of bass. He is also the co-founder of audio-visual collective Syndicate.
Be in the presence of these legends on March 7, at Gem Bar, 8-10 Ann Siang Hill. Limited pre-sale ticket is $45, available February 7 only. Limited door tickets are $65.
