Swedish brand Dr Denim illustrates the wonders of blending modern and classic in an outfit. Its Spring 2012 collection showcases the contemporary interpretation of denim history.
The men’s line features themes based on ‘The Graduate’ and ‘The Deserter’, representing the dressier influences of the rustic, torn at the edge, military-inspired look that merges with work-wear. Creating a sense of calm, Dr Denim shines the spotlight on key colours such as Vintage Wine, Ochre, and Pale Army. ‘The Graduate’ exudes a style that fits preppy mannerism, preserves and reinvents tradition that may involve tweed blazers and long-johns. Pairing a pair of shorts/chinos/slim fit denim with a summer or floral shirt and adding in a jaunty knitted bow-tie would work equally well.
The women’s line features Dr Denim’s signature simplicity with light fabrics and unconventional constructions.
The constructed theme draws inspiration from perfections and origami while ‘The Heiress’ theme is inspired by a notion of inherited old money, represented by a relaxed yet highly conscious style where a sense of bohemian meets art deco. Tight fit remains highly essential while the waist continues to creep up with the new high rise fit ‘Solitaire’ entering the collection. All-over prints include floral artworks and the essential leopard patterns.
