In celebration of the technology’s anniversary, ECCO is launching a commemorative BIOM® C 10th anniversary range in Singapore and selected Asia Pacific markets. Over the last decade, BIOM® has transformed outdoor footwear by guiding the foot to move more naturally, freeing the wearer to walk or run more powerfully, efficiently and smoothly, in exquisite, ultra-modern comfort.
During these ten years, the technology has come to symbolise the Danish brand’s innovative, original approach to shoemaking. While BIOM® technology, which stands for ‘biomechanical optimisation’, was originally introduced into running shoes, it has since been adapted and used across a wide range of ECCO Outdoor series footwear, and designers are continuously seeking out new ways of deploying this technology. With every stride taken in a pair of BIOM® shoe or boot, the wearer is able to move more naturally as the technology activates the foot’s natural systems for motion and shock absorption.
Ten years on, the technology is just as pioneering and innovative as when it was first launched and ECCO has been improving it, step by step. To create this entirely new shoe technology, ECCO collaborated with the Sport University of Cologne in Germany, scanning more than 2,500 athletes’ feet, and then combining that data with biomechanics researchers’ findings, as well as studies of elite triathletes.
One of the benefits of BIOM® technology is the low-to-the-ground construction, which helps to improve the wearer’s motion control and stability, while the strategically-placed flex grooves also enhance one’s natural movement by supplying a better push and maximum forward movement.
Another benefit of BIOM® is its anatomical last, which shapes the shoes into the desired silhouette, follows the curves of the wearer’s foot closely. The combination of that last and the premium materials in the upper – whether using ECCO leather or textiles, allows the wearer to enjoy an exceptional snug fit.
Wherever one goes in a pair of BIOM® shoe, the wearer will also be supported by outstanding, long-lasting cushioning, thanks to the brand’s own innovative FLUIDFORM™ Technology, which direct-injects resilient and shock-absorbent P.U. into the sole, following the anatomical shape of the shoe last.
Constructing a shoe with FLUIDFORM™ Technology also creates a strong bond between the upper and sole, with its state-change liquid-to-solid materials, that avoids the difficulties traditionally associated with glued and stitched assemblies, while also reducing seam construction.
BIOM® does not just mimic a bare foot – it forms a ‘second skin’ around the foot to almost become part of it. BIOM® C 10th anniversary range is priced at SGD 459.90 and is only available exclusively at ECCO ION Orchard and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands from end January 2019 onwards.
