The concept of time continues to marvel creative individuals and drive them into creating timepieces that express their interpretation of time. Newly established independent watch brand Edypoi possesses a passion and an unwavering conviction on illustrating its stance on time.
Born out of a simple idea of making timepieces that are neither haute complications nor boring classics, Edypoi believes that watches should be easily appreciable even without acquiring knowledge on horology.
The creation of an Edypoi collection begins as an artistic idea, and concludes as timepieces that are expressive yet subtle enough for daily wear. Its debut – the Grande Solo collection – is a fine literal play of ‘putting time back on the pedestal’.
With the combination of industrial engineering, quality materials and fine craftsmanship, the Grande Solo gives time its rightful throne on a pedestal as it is elegantly elevated in the middle of a classic watch case. The heart of the watch is a Swiss movement housed in this elevated ‘stage’.
The slopes of the ‘stage’ are dressed in elegantly crafted metal indexes for the BLOC series and cubic Zirconias for the ROC series.
Crafted to give a strong perception of time, the Grande Solo balances between dramatic construction and wearability. And so will Edypoi’s future collections.
Edypoi’s brainchild Leroy Xavier Zhong is a lateral thinker, timepiece aficionado and industrial engineer. Leroy’s vision for his indie timepiece label is to create a league of modern watches that can be appreciated as art pieces rather than horologie d’art.
“Every individual subscribes to a certain form of acquired appreciation for things around them.. And then there are the simple things that take little effort to marvel everyone. On the contrary, these simple things are harder to create.”
Leroy’s believes in simple and beautiful timepieces. His designs aim to achieve subtle presentation through attention to proportion and balance in the details. Edypoi Grande Solo’s BLOC series retails for USD389 while its ROC series retails for USD670 at The Society of Black Sheep at Marina Bay Sands and Edypoi’s online store.
