Click and wind, click and wind. The joys of film photography is celebrated every April 12th, and Lomography Singapore is commemorating it with a mission to discover the best portraits and landscapes shot on film. The Search for Analogue Stars Competition is your chance to display the best of your film roll, whether taken from a basic La Sardina or a carefully home-constructed pinhole camera. Before we go into the details of the competition, here are some fun facts about Lomography and film photography.
Fact #1: Lomography’s journey started with the discovery of the LC-A camera by a group of young enthusiastic Austrian students who founded the Lomographic Society International in 1992 to help spread their passion for analogue photography.
Fact #2: Over 13,400,000 (and counting) pictures have been uploaded to the Lomography website.
Fact #3: Lomography has over 1 million community members worldwide, and counting… All of these folks can inhabit a city the size of Birmingham, UK.
Fact #4: In 2013, Lomography produced their very own and revolutionary LomoChrome Purple film – a new version of the discontinued Kodak Aerochrome film. Use it to get a splash of magenta in your films!
Now, back to the competition. The winner will receive 1 Petzval Lens (Nikon or Canon mount), a lens reinvented and reingineered together with Zenit in Russia for use on today’s SLR cameras. The winner will also be awarded with 100 rolls of films. Imagine what you can capture on 100 films! An exciting prospect indeed.
The 2nd placer will receive 1 LC-A+ Camera and 50 rolls of films. The Lomo Kompakt Automat is a 35mm Russian compact camera that gives you vibrant colours and beautiful contrasts. The 3rd placer will be awared 1 La Sardina Splendour Camera, which by the way, won the European Consumer Choice Award) and 25 rolls of film!
This contest is exclusively dedicated to analogue photographs, not digitally enhanced or manipulated, showing the true skills and authenticity of photographers.
