There was a time where in every magazine you flip through you will see that milk ad. Celebrities such as Britney Spears and David Beckham were sporting a milk moustache holding a glass of milk and the big question is – Got Milk?
The Campaign began in 1993 created by advertising agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners for the California Milk Processor Board. While the use of its legendary tagline has ended in 2014, it most definitely did not leave our minds, even in South East Asia.
Fast forward to 2020, ‘Got Milk?’ is making a comeback, but not the way that you remembered. Gone are the milk moustaches that has the world drinking milk trying to mimic that “white glistening upper lip mark” madness. In partnership with Weber Shandwick, look out for the assortment of videos on TikTok and YouTube showcasing how milk can be used in creative ways, supported by the hashtag #GotMilkChallenge!
One of the most notable videos is of American Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky swimming across a pool, while balancing a glass of chocolate milk on her head without spilling! Albeit different, the ‘Got Milk?’ campaign is still relevant, 27 years later and if it can survive the Coronavirus pandemic, it can survive anything.
