With so many events postponing and cancelling due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s hard to keep up with the news. Lucky for you, here we list down 10 major events that are not happening any time soon.
After the announcement of Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for the virus, the NBA Commissioner decided to temporarily suspend the season for 30 days. Many fans support the decision in hopes to minimise the spread.
2. Coachella and Stagecoach
Rumours were circulating of the postponement of the most sought-after music festival. This year, Rage Against The Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean will take centre stage to headline the show. Now, the festival is not cancelled but will be held in October later this year.
3. Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards
Nickelodeon’s slimiest event will not be taking place on 22 March 2020. With Chance The Rapper as the host this year, the award show will be moved to a later date. Therefore, there is still time to vote for your favourite artists!
Disney’s live-action adaptation of the classic blockbuster Mulan is postponing its global release due to the outbreak. It is unsure as to when will the premiere happen as of now, but its world premiere was held in Los Angeles earlier this month.
5. English Premier League
Current team with the most points Liverpool F.C. has to hold their horses for the next two games to win the league. Due to the announcement of Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea’s forward Callum Hudson-Odoi having tested positive for the virus, the league is postponed until 30 April 2020.
6. Academy of Country Music Awards 2020
The 55th Academy of Country Music Awards was set to take place on 5 April 2020. Due to the ban on large public gatherings, they have announced the postponement of the award show. A new date is still in the works.
7. Rock And Roll Hall of Fame 2020 Induction Ceremony
The 35th Induction Ceremony was forced to postpone from its original date of 2 May 2020 as the city of Cleveland is under a civil emergency. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees include Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Notorious B.I.G, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston and T-rex.
8. Record Store Day
A sad news for independent record stores around the world. The annual Record Store Day has been postponed to 20 June 2020. Each year, fans and artists of the music scene come together to celebrate the culture of independent record stores.
9. SXSW Conference & Festivals 2020
The festival that celebrates all things great in the interactive, film and music industries is cancelled. Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas, the yearly event was scheduled to happen from 13 – 22 March 2020.
10. 2020 Boston Marathon
The Boston Marathon has never been completely cancelled, until this year. Since its first flag off in 1897, this is the first time the event will be moved to a later date. The 2020 Boston Marathon will be held on 14 September 2020.
