In celebration of the newly released issue of Kult Magazine, X1, over 50 top-notch local and international artists were asked to choose a book that has made an impact on who they are today and then illustrate their own twist of the cover. With big names in the visual culture world such as Genevieve Gauckler (Netherlands), Jon Burgerman (UK), Speak Cryptic (Singapore) and Sakiroo (Korea), the book covers display different styles and techniques, in hopes to re- introduce the books back into the mainstream culture.
In conjunction with the recent Singapore Design Society Festival, the unique artworks were hung up in indie boutiques and restaurants in Tiong Bahru including BooksActually, Flock and PoTeaTo. For the first time, the complete collection of book covers will be exhibited in Kult Gallery from 25 April to 25 May. Each artwork will be framed, is available in sets of ten and is retailing at SGD$300.
