It takes two to put on a greater fight. In an effort to create awareness about HIV/AIDS, Jean Paul Gaultier and Eastpak have joined forces for a full collaborative collection that combines Jean Paul Gaultier’s unique artistic vision and Eastpak’s uncompromising passion for functionality, capturing the spirit, heritage, values and identity of both brands.
According to Jean Paul Gaultier House, the main collection sees Eastpak’s college and street heritage being represented through a bomber jacket and a denim jacket, iconic pieces which Jean Paul Gaultier has reinterpreted many times in his collections. All bags feature the overstitched Bretton stripe on the back, a signature Gaultier design element.
Jean Paul Gaultier expressed, “I think the condom is the greatest piece of clothing ever invented and my message to everyone is “Protect yourself!”. I have been involved in the fight against AIDS for many years now and will continue to do so for as long as I am needed.”
The Eastpak x Jean Paul Gaultier collection comprises seven backpacks – four of which are part of the main collection while the other three are released as numbered, limited editions. Part proceeds from all sales will go to Designers Against AIDS (DAA).
Ninette Murk, Founder and Creative Director of DAA, said, “I’m delighted with the news that Jean Paul Gaultier will join forces with Eastpak for DAA. Not only because he is one of the most talented and creative fashion designers in the world today but also because he has supported the fight against HIV/AIDS since the very beginning.”
The main collection retails for SGD179 and is available at the Eastpak boutique located at Plaza Singapura #04-60.
