In 1999, Levi’s introduced the Levi’s Engineered Jean (LEJ), and announced that it was an “innovative approach to denim” with twisted side seams designed to maximize comfort and freedom of movement to fit any lifestyle choice imaginable. Two decades on, Levi’s is now celebrating the collection’s 20th anniversary with a Spring/Summer 2019 relaunch, with a modern twist.
So What’s New?
In the 2019 reissue, fans can expect a melding of vintage vibes and new-age silhouettes, in contemporary styles including loose jeans and the Levi’s Engineered Knit featuring a “four-way stretch” for extra comfort, red Two-Horse back patch, the signature twisted side seams, the LEJ logo printed on the inner pocket linings, as well as printed hanger loops.
2019 LEJ Campaign
A widely regarded icon in Japan’s entertainment scene, singer-actor Kimura Takuya had previously starred in the first LEJ campaign 20 years ago.
This year, he is back again with a co-star, singer-songwriter Leah Dou for the 20th anniversary reissue, demonstrating how versatile the LEJ collection really is, and aptly proving that the collection is well suited for movement with comfort.
