While most of the world greet a colder climate and the region gets wet under the monsoon storms, our friends Down Under are embracing the summer sun. Iconic Aussie sunglasses brand Le Specs has released its second summer Alohaha collection that features a series of Hawaiian inspired looks in vibrant summer colours.
Echoing the gentle rhythms of island life, the 12 new Le Specs pieces combine a spectrum of faded brights, with coconut whites and bright holographic mirrored lenses. Shape-wise, the styles include thick-framed cats eyes and wayfarers, along with forties-inspired small round lenses.
Le Specs designer Hamish Tame explains, “Our success this season has really come with experimenting with colours and prints. For the past few seasons, dark colours have really dominated the sunglass market, but it now feels like everyone is ready for some bright action this summer. The key look for Le Specs Second Summer is washed-out brights and whites mixed with palm prints and bright mirrored lenses.”
Highlight pieces from the collection include Just Maui’d (a classic Le Specs aviator with subtle enamel detailing available with bright blue mirror lenses or classic smoke graduated), Halmoon Magic (a thick-framed cats eye style available in a faded mint palm print or deep tortoise shell), Get Leied (a flat top square style in Le Specs’ signature faded pink palm print or classic black) and Alohaha (a modern update on the classic round styles of the 1940’s with metal detailing in coconut white with tortoise shell or matte black).
Gaining a cult following internationally, Le Specs has recently been spotted on the likes of superstar Rihanna and model Miranda Kerr. The Le Specs Second Summer 2012 sunglass collection is available at the following stores:
