British denim label Lee Cooper sets to bring authentic individuals whose passions lie in old-school crafts through The Makers campaign for Spring/Summer 2013. This year, Lee Cooper has personally handpicked the Heist barber crew and analogue enthusiast Meerly Wang to be the face of Singapore’s Makers campaign.
Heist, founded in August 2011 by Mervyn, Jamie, Mie and Cenydd, is a collective whose aim is to share and relive the memories of the age of barbershops, without a physical shop on their hands. Over time and through the love for remnants of the past, Heist gained new allies like Alisha, Moses and Art to join the creative crew and shifted their focus into getting more involved with the community and increasing engagement with them so that the feedback received can fuel Heist’s growth as a brand itself and give the crew a chance to sharpen their skills.
Meerly also embraces the techniques of the past with her flair for analogue photography. The use of film simply amuses her and inspires her to explore deeper into the art. Owning over 24 film cameras, she believes that analogue photography brings a whole new level of quality and feelings that no digital camera could capture.
These creative talents represent Singapore’s next generation of makers who would go the extra mile to perfect their craft in their own way, no shortcuts taken.
