Analogue movie maker LomoKino gets its debut makeover as Lomography teams up with online movie platform MUBI in this cinematic collaboration. Dressed in classic white with colourful dots, the LomoKino MUBI Edition carries the signature of 2010 Palme D’Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul – a well-known esteemed Thai filmmaker.
So what does Apichatpong Weerasethakul have to do with LomoKino? Going against the norm, he created the first LomoMovie – titled ‘Ashes’ – that was premiered in Cannes on 19 May. Over twenty minutes of pure analogue art met the eyes of influential movie critics from all over the world. Apichatpong Weerasethakul also introduced the LomoKino MUBI Edition at the prestigious film event.
Five days later, Lomography invited movie enthusiasts to the screening of ‘Ashes’ in its Lomography Gallery Stores worldwide to enjoy an evening filled with cinematographic pleasures.
Every LomoKino MUBI Edition package comes with a scene of ‘Ashes’ spooled into the LomoKino Scope – ready to be watched and to inspire analogue aficionados. Additionally, a free one month MUBI subscription is also included in the package. Enthusiasts can stream all of MUBI’s amazing independent, international and classic movies. MUBI will also host a Lomo Garage on their website where users can upload their very own LomoMovies.
