The MAD Museum of Art & Design officially launched last week, making it the first private art museum in Singapore! Hong Kong celebrities like Michael Wong and Jennifer Tse, local celebrities like Joanne Peh and Yi Quwu, film personas like Randy Ang and Eric Khoo, and international art collectors were part of the 400-strong crowd that attended the glamorous event.
Its 19,000 square feet space at 10 Tanglin Road is filled with the artwork of 18 artists from 10 countries. The two-storey building is now home to works by Singaporean artists Hans Tan and Jeffrey Ho, Malaysian Ismadi Sallehudin, and emerging upstarts like the Japanese Yuji Mizuta, Taiwanese Wu Tung-Lung, and French Bruno de Caumont. The designs ranged from painting and sculptures to furniture and graffiti, a reflection of the diverse and inclusive direction MAD has taken.
The new move to a bigger but centrally located address is in line with MAD’s vision of enabling visitors from all walks of life to experience the world of art and design in a refreshing, educational, and accessible way. The larger space also signals a slew of future events, workshops, and talks.
Art lovers can also look forward to amenities like the merchandise store, a sculpture garden, and an exclusive cigar bar and lounge. Drop by the MAD Museum of Art & Design at 10 Tanglin Road.
