Be a bro, grow a Mo. To raise awareness for commonly unspoken men’s health issues such as prostate cancer and depression, Movember is back for its third year!
This year, the movement is calling upon makers, thinkers, growers, and doers to stand up and grow for bros near and dear to them (and all over the world too!). Movember is a month-long charity initiative – begin on November 1st with a clean-shaven face, take your time and grow a Mo. Don’t forget to also talk about why you are doing it – prostate and testicular cancer happens, we should all encourage a healthy change of habits and attitudes towards health risks.
This year’s Made in Movember theme calls on local Mo Heroes to lend a hand, with a reminder that every moustache grown and dollar raised benefits a local prostate and testicular cancer survivor in their community. Supporters of Movember (known as Mo Bros and Mo Sistas) can now register online as individuals or as a team online to keep each other mo-tivated. Funds will go to Singapore Cancer Society and are distributed directly to the areas of awareness and education, survivorship, research and health aid for men living with prostate cancer.
With a month-long series of events, perks and fundraising, Singapore businesses are getting behind Mo Heroes. From exclusive Movember events including a Night Market by The Local People and workshops by the Tyrwhitt General Company, to pastry perks at Costa Coffee, a Mo fitness circuit at Fitness First and partnered activity with Gillette, registered participants are able to support a cause and have fun at the same time! If you’re not blessed with a beard, the barbers at male-grooming label We Need a Hero will be producing a guide on how to grow on their Facebook page.
