Maison Ikkoku (MI) or ‘House of the Moment’ has officially completed its entire concept with the opening of its semi-alfresco cocktail bar, following the establishment of its artisan coffee joint and multi-label menswear boutique in September 2011.
A total seating capacity of 45pax both indoors and outdoors, Maison Ikkoku’s rooftop bar offers a relaxing and cosy respite from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. Elevated three storeys high from the noisy streets, you will find yourself detached from the rest of the world. Here’s a little suggestion – start chilling out at the bar around dusk as the view of the sunset against the neighbouring scene is absolutely gorgeous and captivating. It is definitely a perfect spot to unwind at the end of a long work day or over lazy weekends.
“We were attracted by the breathtaking scenery that can be seen from the rooftop. Given that we are the only shophouse in this street stretch with a third storey roof top, and one with such a fine view of Singapore’s cityscape, we thought what better way to appreciate the space then to have a cocktail bar here, where you can have a relaxing night-out with loved ones, taking in the sights while sipping on one of our signature or premium cocktails,” explained Franz Chua, one of the co-owners of Maison Ikkoku.
The charm of this cocktail bar does not end at its ideal location. Even its menu of cocktails is specially and thoughtfully created. Director of Bar Operations and Mixologies, Ethan Leslie Leong has specially-concocted two signature MI cocktails – the MI1 White French Maid (SGD$25) and the MI2 Passionate Moment (SGD$22).
The MI1 White French Maid is concocted with Coffee Liquor, French Caramel Liquor, Vodka, Fresh Milk and Coffee Beans. The cocktail is finished off nicely with a toasted foamy milk top that adds tons of aroma, flavour and texture to the drink once your lips touch the glass. Ethan explained, “I was inspired by the amount of effort put into roasting the coffee beans and brewing a good cup of coffee at Maison Ikkoku, so my first creation for the cocktail bar had to be coffee-related.”
The MI2 Passionate Moment includes Fresh Passionfruit, Lemon, Rosemary bits, Gin, Vodka plus an extra stalk of Rosemary, which is set aflame when served. The scent produced acts as an instant aroma-therapy, while enhancing the flavour of the cocktail.
To mark the launch of Maison Ikkoku cocktail bar, Ethan has collaborated with renowned Show Producer Daniel Boey, award-winning Art Director Justin Long and singer-songwriter from SIXX Aarika Lee to create three bespoke cocktails inspired by each of their distinctive lifestyle and personality. Priced at SGD$25 each, these cocktails are available for a limited period from now till October 2012.
The Fabulous DianaV (inspired by Daniel Boey) contains red apple, mint, gin, pomegranate, lemon, apple liquor & menthe-pastile.
A Long Cocktale (inspired by Justin Long) contains banana liquor, light rum, orange juice, mint, banana & brown sugar.
The Dream Catcher (inspired by Aarika Lee) contains pineapple, whiskey, basil & pomegranate.
Scrumptious light bites to satisfy nibble-cravings are also available such as MI Chicken Wings, Cheese Croquettes and Margarita Pizzas.
