Enigmatic fashion house Maison Martin Margiela is launching its flagship boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, #B1-10, on 24 October 2014. Spanning 1,644sq ft, the boutique marks the label’s second foray into the shopping scene of Singapore.
Known for its taste for transgression, Margiela’s line embodies the underground, deconstructive, grunge, minimalist, provocative and avant-garde flavour – receiving rave reviews from industry heavyweights and masses alike. The ready-to-wear line retains the designer’s full aesthetic and the public can now get up close and personal with the capsule collection in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Apart from that, Margiela’s AW 2014 Women and Men Premiere collection are now available exclusively at its flagship store.
Consistent with its other boutiques worldwide, the store is decked in pristine white, from its walls to the furniture. Even the in-store employees are dressed in Margiela’s signature white lab coats. Details such as the parquet flooring, Haussmannian trompe l’oeil stickers, and a Herringbone printed carpet complete the decor and impart a metropolitan, contemporary look and feel.
To mark the opening of Maison Martin Margiela’s boutique in Singapore, four iconic masks – aptly named Anonimity – from their haute couture collection will be displayed in-store between 24 October and 7 November 2014. These archival masks epitomizing the fashion house’s raw aesthetics – which have seen to the likes of Kanye West – will now be made accessible to the public. Other pieces that will be showcasing at the opening include Tabis boots, Trompe L’oeil, Recycling, Detournement and Passage of Time.
