The sewing workshop of Penor Jail located in Pahang, Malaysia has one of the most important role of the coronavirus outbreak – creating PPE (personal protection equipment) for hospital workers.
Usually the workshop operates on weekdays, but due to high demand of the garment, the inmates also work on weekends. It began when they received 2000 metres of material, each suit requiring 5 metres. Started on 27 March 2020, they produce more than 20 PPE each day!
Prior to that, the inmates attended a briefing session on how to produce the blue suits. Once the suits are done, they are sent to the office of the Secretary of the state of Pahang who will then distribute them to the state of Pahang’s Health Department.
Let us thank all the unsung heroes who are risking their lives to keep us safe. Do your part by staying at home!
