Malaysian nightlife is considered to be one of the best in South East Asia. While it is on hold due to the current pandemic, a locally made whiskey took the party halfway across the world and won a silver medal at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition!
Timah, the double peated blended whiskey, is produced by Winepark International, Malaysia’s leading alcoholic beverage manufacturer since 1982. The name translates to “tin” and it pays tribute to Captain Tristam Speedy, the man on the cover. He is a 19th century explorer who sailed his way to Malaya’s Straits Settlement and has decorated achievements in our country, including restoring peace in Perak’s mining district which ultimately became Taiping.
This is the first time one of Malaysia’s very own whiskey has won in an international competition, which took place in March 2020. The blend is matured over 8 years and boasts a faintly floral flavour initially which then transcends into a sharper, peppery taste and ends with the sweetness of light oak.
Timah is currently on sale for RM190 (RP: RM240) here!
