Whether you’re Team Peeta or Team Gale, the release of Mockingjay Part 1 this November will get you excited and geared up for some post-apocalyptic-slash-love story action. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will see Katniss Everdeen and her compadres fight the Capitol, with a whole nation behind her. Well, almost a whole nation.
Joining in the action are the Cat Welfare Society (CWS) and Save Our Singapore Dogs (SOSD)! Together with Cathay Cineplexes and the Patrick Harrigan Foundation, the two non-profit organisations are holding a Movie Charity Event. On 20 November 2014, the blockbuster movie will be screened at both 9pm and 9.30pm. Tickets to this charity event are priced at SGD30 each, and all proceeds will be shared equally between CWS and SOSD.
This collaborative effort between a cat charity and a dog charity is the first of its kind in Singapore and aims to bring animal lovers together for their shared vision in providing community cats and stray dogs a better quality of life. CWS and SOSD advocate sterilisation as the humane and effective means to manage the population of these animals in Singapore, and the funds raised will help contribute to thateffort. Apart from sterilisation, CWS continues to devote resources to educate cat owners on responsible pet ownership as well as to raise awareness and gain support for caregivers and feeders islandwide.
A one-minute video highlighting the partnership between SOSD and CWS will be shown to the audience before the movie, and Guest-of-honour Mr. Desmond Lee, Minister of State and Minister of National Development will grace the event. A preview lounge and reception will be open to ticket holders and VIPs at 7.30pm on the day itself. Show some love for the cats and dogs of Singapore by purchasing a ticket at Cathay Cineplexes Box Offices, the iCathay mobile app and Cathay Cineplexes’ website.
