Skechers introduces its latest collaboration collection with Los Angeles-based visual artist Joshua Vides bringing 2D pop-art sketches to life.
Launching on 1 March both online and in stores, the Skechers X Reality To Idea collection features a range of footwear, apparel and accessories for both men and women in a monochromatic colour palette, including a unique transparent panelled design for the sneakers.
After the brand’s previous collaborations with artists and streetwear designers including Jeremy Ville and Chinatown Market, Skechers is joining hands with Joshua Vides, known for his iconic black-and-white sketch illusions and the creator of “Reality To Idea”.
His art style focuses on creating an alternate reality of making real-life objects appear as monochromatic drawings, giving the visual illusion of transforming 3D shapes into 2D works of art. The Skechers X Reality To Idea collection is thus inspired by this art concept, featuring sketch lines and black-and-white design elements across the various footwear, apparel and bag styles.
In particular, the collaboration brings forth a new take on Skechers’ retro style Stamina 2.0 sneaker silhouette, using Reality to Idea’s iconic black-and-white colour palette for a minimalist, monochromatic look that is full of street vibes. There is also a unique detail in the transparent panel along the shoe upper, which allows the interior 2D artwork to be showcased.
When wearing the shoes, one can either match with the same colour of black or white socks, or pair a contrasting combination such as the black shoes with white socks for an edgy look. The chunky-heeled sneaker also includes Skechers’ signature Air Cooled Memory Foam insole for cushioned comfort.
The Skechers X Reality To Idea Collection launches on 1 March at seven Skechers stores islandwide: Wisma Atria, Plaza Singapura, Bugis Junction, Suntec City, Great World, VivoCity and Jewel Changi Airport. It will also be available online.
