Naiise – the enterprise with a grand mission to make an impact on the design scene in Singapore – is presenting a second edition of The Design Supermarket pop-up store at Orchard Central. The initiative made its debut in August last year and received excellent response from the public.
The Design Supermarket is an original, month-long pop-up concept store by Naiise that aims to introduce unique, functional design and make it more accessible to Singaporeans. By placing design products in a modern and inviting supermarket setting, coupled with an interactive retail experience, Naiise hopes to expose and educate people to the value and everyday usability of design, not unlike groceries one would purchase daily from a supermarket.
This pop-up store features more than 350 local and international brands in furniture, home decor, kitchenware, food, beauty, fashion, tech and stationery. Naiise will also introduce Design Spaces shop-in-shops for the first time at the pop-up store, where shoppers will be able to experience design living first-hand in distinct spaces styled by local furniture partners, Journey East, Scene Shang, MakeRoom and Departures & Arrivals.
The Design Supermarket will once again engage the local design community, featuring workshops every weekend by local makers, alongside other activities like art jamming and coffee sampling. Artists and artist groups – 10 Square, Damien Soh and Band of Doodlers – will also be showcasing their signature styles via life-sized supermarket trolley art installations, incorporating a new element of fun and art into the pop-up. For the Mother’s Day weekend (9 – 10 May), Naiise will also host floral arrangement workshops and retail fresh flowers.
Naiise is also working closely with Orchard Central and its tenants, such as SABRINAGOH, Tanuki Raw, Essensuals Hairdressing and Hom Yoga to offer exclusive perks and discounts to shoppers at the pop-up store, hoping to create a more rewarding and interesting experience for visitors.
Dennis Tay, the founder of Naiise says, “We believe our stores and pop-up stores complement our online business as they allow shoppers to interact with our products first-hand. At the same time, consumers are constantly looking for new and unique retail offerings and experiences when they go out to shop. We feel that we are in a good position to offer both, and would like to bring this integrated retail-entertainment experience to shopping malls, while working closely with our neighbours to create a compelling reason for people to visit our pop-up store and Orchard Central.”
The Design Supermarket by Naiise is located at the Discovery Walk Level 1 Atrium of Orchard Central and opens from 24 April to 19 May 2015, 11am to 10pm.
