We love new shoes, and New Balance seems to have a stream of newcomers this year. Spring welcomes a collaboration with Nice Kicks, a pair of kicks christened 1600 “Grand Anse”. Inspired by Nice Kicks founder, Matt Halfhill’s youth growing up in Grenada, the Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” have been released, though in a limited quantity.
Here’s the story behind the Grand Anse. Matt Halfhill, founder of Nice Kicks, moved to the beautiful Carribean Island of Grenada – with little background information. He arrived at the island and heard waves breaking on the beach, “a beach that would become one of the most impactful places in his life”. Inspired by this beach, the Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” is a reflection of nature, the calypso rhythms that make up the island, and the soft white sand.
The Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” includes a royal blue and aqua pig suede and mesh upper representing Granada’s shallow waters. White leather accents on the upper resemble the sails of boats, and the sandy, light grey midsole symbolises the sandy beach. Lastly, the style includes an ice rubber sole to represent the warm water of Grand Anse Bay. Additional details include a Nice Kicks signature full-reflective tongue; reflective laces; an ice rubber bottom; and, sea crystal hangtag. The Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” features also ABZORB® technology providing a cushioned midsole and insert for added comfort and support.
The Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse” will retail exclusively at Limited Edt Vault @ 313 Somerset for $229 from March 29 onwards.
