British fashion designer Nigel Cabourn takes his love for tennis a step further by collaborating with Fred Perry, the world’s most popular tennis player and fashion label. It was a partnership just waiting to happen!
The collaboration celebrates both Fred Perry and Nigel Cabournʼs authenticʼs UK manufacturing roots from the 1950s and 1970s respectively. They also travelled back in time to find inspiration in the personal styles of Fred Perry and Victor Barna, the British-Hungarian five-time World Champion of Table Tennis.
The final collection is a combination of that, and bits and pieces of his Nigel Cabourn’s vintage archive. One example is the Panelled 1952 Pique Shirt, which is a playful take on a 1970s training vest from Nigelʼs extensive history of styles.
Fans may also look forward to a 3-button blazer made from Dawes weaving fabric, the Pullover Head Sweat with half Riri zip, and The Cameraman Windcheater Bomber which features navy colour-blocking.
“Fred Perry is a brand that I think runs in some ways parallel to the Nigel Cabourn brand, both truly British brands inspired by British heritage and wherever possible manufacturing everything in the UK. I think a lot of Fred Perry and Nigel Cabourn fans alike will be pleased we have finally come together on this collaboration,” the designer said.
The Nigel Cabourn x Fred Perry Collection for SS2015 will be available in the Laurel Wreath Collection Shop located at Mandarin Gallery #03-08.
